Yes, he was playing for a small school, but each one of those coaches won like that at their respective schools. Bill Self won 30 games at Tulsa. Rick Pinto won 25 games at Providence.

Tulsa was Conference USA when Self was there, a mid-major conference that had, for many years, had national title contenders in Memphis and Louisville.

Providence is BIG EAST, a conference that, when Pitino was there, had Georgetown, Villanova, Connecticut, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Seton Hall, and West Virginia.

Murray State is in the Ohio Valley conference, which has ALWAYS been a 1-bid league. You can win 30 games in a 1-bid league with an overwhelming talent advantage.

He didn't have an overwhelming talent advantage.

Oh, and Tulsa was in the Missouri Valley and the WAC when Self was coach there. They have only been CUSA since the 2000s.

I don't have any problems starting this season off with a clean slate for bk and the ags...however...I'm not going to hold my breath and wait for a more competent offense.

Also, have these new commits even been to an aggie basketball game? Because under Kennedy we have one of the most anemic and depressing atmospheres. I won't believe any of these kids will be playing for a&m until they actually sign.....or the check clears.

The fact that our recruiting has gone from "meh" to "$tan$bury good" may signal of what's to come as far as coaching changes.

Still a mid-major, not a 1-bid.

Name me one successful head coach that went straight from 1-bid to major, skipping mid-major in the process.

we all know you're a "glass is half-empty but there's probably a hole in it so it'll be completely empty at any moment" kind of guy, but fyi the early signing period starts like 2 weeks from now and before we've played a game

Billy Donovan

Before he went to Florida he was at Marshall for just two years when they were in the Southern Conference. They went 18-9 and 17-11. They didn't make any postseason tourney or win the conference.

Will you please throw this idiotic theory of yours in the trash now?

Brad Stevens went from pharmaceutical sales to two bid league to NBA not sure if that busts his theory

You need to stop trying to neatly fit everything into these canned, all encompassing theories. Sports, especially college sports can be random as frick.

You need to trust your eyes, like how when I watch Kennedy's teams they look disorganized as hell on offense and nobody moves without the ball, that's why I think he's not that great of a coach. I'm willing to give him some time with all the talent we have coming in though

Congratulations. You named one...a coach who was an assistant under RICK PITINO for five years.

Horizon League (Valparaiso, Butler, UW-Milwaukee, Oakland) was not a 1-bid league when he was there.

It had 2 bids one of the four years he was there. Also Oakland and Valpo joined after he left

Pearl was at Milwaukee 4 years. In 3 of those years, Horizon received one bid. One of the years, Butler got a last four at large bid in addition to their tournament champ (Milwaukee).

If a league has ever received an at-large bid, they immediately become a mid-major...which the Ohio Valley conference is not.

OVC is underrated. Murray State, Morehead State, Belmont are all good teams.

Yes thanks I'm aware of this, and Kennedy better hope he signs all of them before the season starts.

Of course I am, I've been an aggie sports fan since about 2000.
