Let's suppose Alabama, MSU and Ole Miss win all games between now and Nov 15.
Does an Alabama win over MSU allow the Tide to jump Ole Miss in the polls?
I think they do.

A 1 loss Bama isn't jumping an undefeated OM that beat them

why in the hell would alabama jump an undefeated ole miss, who beat alabama?
Posted on 10/21/14 at 1:46 pm to DrunkenStuporMan
Nope. We beat them.

No way a 1-loss Bama team, who loss to Ole Miss, jumps an undefeated Ole Miss in the polls...

Yeah Ole Miss would have to lose for Alabama to jump them.

Because they are directly behind us in the polls right now.

No, unless you're assuming all three have a loss at that time.

No. Ole Miss would likely go to #1, FSU at #2, and Bama at #3.

...and?
You would just move up, as would bama. They wouldn't jump you.

So you don't think the #4 team beating the #1 team would jump the #3 team?

October 4 will have been a long time ago at this point.

While I think they should, they won't. Too much is put into straight wins vs losses. Nobody came away from the OM/Bama game thinking OM would have won in Tuscaloosa. Nobody watched FSU and ND and came away thinking FSU was the better team. Yet, because of those outcomes, OM>Bama and FSU>ND.
In reality, if Bama beats us, they are probably the strongest team in the country. They played an impressive game of football Saturday.
