The last time LSU scored a lopsided victory in Baton Rouge was 1995. Since then, Ole Miss has only lost 5 times in Baton Rouge and all of them by 7 or less points. This period included some of the worst Ole Miss teams in school history.

You're right, in the 18 (?) games since 1995 (exclusive), LSU has a better win % at Mississippi (.667) than at home (.556) against the Bears.

Interestingly the average score at VHS is 32-17 in favor of LSU. WTF wrong are y'all doing at home?

Oh, and I like this part:

Like in '99 when 8-3 Mississippi beat 3-8 LSU in BR? Those '98-'99 LSU teams weren't some of the best for LSU either.

Is the one on the right really the new trophy? I could have sworn that they showed the one on the left at Freeze's weekly presser.

Yep. Looks like they just painted the gold magnolia over with white paint.

the one on the right looks like a large mouth bass was ripped off it, and replaced with a magnolia

Not only did we not make it, we didn't even come up with an idea for a trophy for this game. That was all LSU

Either way, I think it goes through one more redesign before they get it right.

Didn't come up with the idea for it? So your Student Government lies when it took partial credit for creating the trophy?

quote:

The trophy was designed by LSU senior sculpture major Evan Trapp with input from the leaders of the two student bodies. The trophy is carved from bass wood with a stained finish. The game’s logo will be emblazoned on the base, as will all of the scores following the Nov. 22 game. The top of the base will have four wood-carved leaves cradling a bronze-cast magnolia flower.

The logo was designed by Cultigraphic Creative located in Charleston, S.C. The student body leaders of Ole Miss played a major role in its development and finalization. The logo contains the LSU, Ole Miss, and SEC logos as well as the magnolia flower. The two schools will use this logo as the official Magnolia Bowl Logo.

Tiger Stadium is not very intimidating

I know the arrogance of you guys will not allow yourselves to be objective, but the truth is that most of the current Ole Miss fanbase, that has been to an LSU/Ole Miss game in BR over the last 20 years, hasn't really experienced the real tiger stadium experience. You will this Saturday night. Most of the time, during the last 20 years, Ole Miss comes in as a bottom feeder of the SEC, and LSU has been more focuses on the elite of the SEC. I know Ole Miss fans don't get, or believe this, but it's true. I've been to all of the last 5 games in BR....and the crowd and atmosphere there is always very subdued, compared to other big games against Alabama, Auburn, and Florida.

Saturday night, you will get to have the real experience. Ole Miss may win, but the atmosphere will be nothing like you think it will be if you are basing it on the last 8-10 meetings. You guys ALWAYS get up for LSU...you admit that yourselves. LSU hasn't been up for Ole Miss since 2003...and that was in Oxford. Believe what you will...and oh, go to hell ole miss.

They both look pretty shitty. Who puts a flower on a football trophy? Couldn't LSU come up with something better than that? I'd rather play for a gold plated bourbon bottle. It would be a more accurate representation of both fanbases.

9-0 Old Myth ATS last nine trips to Death Valley

I've been on Old Myth for the majority of those games, but they were all as Dogs, most of them of double-digit variety.

Winning team should break it every year, and have to make a new one just as crappy

it would be like a gag gift Christmas

That's demonstrably false in terms of how it happened. As in, couldn't really be any further from what actually happened.

When LSU wins this weekend, they should change the tradition and make the loser have to keep that ugly thing.
