I think this man deserves much of the credit for our success. If he would have fired Richt in 2010 season when fans were screaming.. where would we be? After McGarity became our AD (lets say his timeline started after the 2011 season, since he was hired in Aug 2010 and exerted power in 2011). We have won the SEC east 2x (2011, 2012) and on our way to winning it the 3rd time in 2014. Rumor has it that he was one of the guys that influenced Pruitt to comet to Georgia. Imo he made an excellent hire in Scott Stricklin as our baseball coach. Dude has been an excellent AD so far. Could it be that he was the brains behind Foley as well, since he was at UF for 18 years.. who knows? Muschamp was hired after he left haha. I am happy with him and think he is doing a fantastic job.

From UGA website:
quote:

[McGarity] becoming Director of Athletics, Georgia teams have won national championships in women's swimming and diving (2013 and `14) and equestrian (2014) and SEC championships in men's tennis (2011, '13, and '14), women's tennis (2013), women's tennis SEC Tournament ('14), women's swimming and diving (2011, '12, '13, '14), men's tennis SEC Tournament (2012 and `13), and two SEC eastern division titles in football (2011 and 2012). During that time 18 different Georgia teams have been ranked in the nation's top 20 and 10 in the top ten. Georgia's standing in the Learfield Director's Cup, which annually measures athletic teams success in NCAA championships, has improved from 20th in 2011 to 10th in 2013.

Idk but it's hard for me to take anything you say seriously considering you think ramsey should be starting right now.

Mason is slowly improving each game. He just lacks the arm strength but yea Ramsey probably isn't as prepared as Mason right now regarding the playbook. Overall I think we can agree McGarity is a stronger AD than his predecessors (Evans) by far.

McGarity is a flat out weasel who deserves non of any of the credit for our athletic success.

He'll do whatever it takes to go along with whatever his bosses tell em to do. See his tenure as associate AD @ UF...

He helped to hire Urban Meyer and Billy Donavan

Urban Meyer on McGarity:
quote:

Greg has been a tremendous asset to me and our football program in my time at Florida. I remember first meeting Greg when Jeremy flew out to talk to me about the Florida job. He was involved in every discussion with Jeremy and our family and I could tell right away that Greg played a pivotal role in the athletic department. I could also see that his relationship with Jeremy and others in the athletic department went beyond the professional level. He was very well liked and respected among his co-workers. Greg always found a way to get things done, but he did it in a very personable manner.

Donavan on McGarity:
quote:

I'm elated for Greg and his family that he is getting a chance to not only direct a first-class athletic department, but in essence, to go home.

I've known Greg for 15 years, he was involved in my hiring at Florida, and has been someone I've always had great respect and admiration for.

I echo the sentiments of everyone here in wishing he and his family the best in Athens and we will certainly all miss him. Georgia has made a fantastic hire

Foley on McGarity:
quote:

Greg has been an invaluable asset to our organization over the years. He has been involved in the day to day operations of our department and has been by my side every step of the way - from hiring coaches, to budgets, facility planning and event management, he has been a key component of our success. Greg is extremely loyal and has great vision for the future.

To be perfectly honest, I think mcgarity has done alright. He finally cut the dead weight in perno and got by all accounts a good coach. The wheels are finally in motion for an IPF. We got about the best defensive coaching staff any of us could've dreamed off this offseason. While I'm on the fence on Fox, we finished 2nd in the SEC last year. We continue to excel in teh country club sports.

My biggest issue with him is PR type stuff, like with gurley and the swim team. Those have both been nightmares. I'm not going to say he's been fantastic and he's awesome, but he's not as bad as everyone wants to make him out to be. If you had asked everyone what they thought of him 2 weeks ago most people would probably say "I don't know, no real feeling either way".

That is true. The whole swim coach thing and Gurley has been a PR nightmare. Mind you that the swim coach just came from a national championship.

No doubt this is true..."helped" cover up multiple failed drug test, assults, sexual assults and overall thuggery with Urban Meyers crew of criminals.

You are aware of what went on down there under Meyer, correct?

Are you saying McGarity knew nothing about it?
