Let's talk some Will Muschamp

Looking back through some old gam recaps in the past decade and reached 2006 and outside of Tuberville's infamous home noon kickoff debacles where the team didn't get off the bus for Arkansas and UGA, Boom's defense didn't allow more than 17 points to an opponent all year long. We held opponents to 14 or less 7 times that year.
Pretty remarkable looking back on it. Hate that his defense can't play offense as well at Florida.
I certainly don't want to see him land on his feet as a DC next year at aTm when he's fired at the end of this year.

EJ's not going anywhere anytime soon, so we won't get him.

I wasn't on the inside when Muschamp was there but his time at Auburn and Texas seemed to come after they had peaked. The DC that was at both when they peaked was Chizik (04 Auburn and 05 Texas).
Chizik > Muschamp

Muschamp wouldn't come back to Auburn for a gazillion dollars. He would come back if we let him curb stomp Jay Jacobs after we fired Jay though.

This. I can't remember the #'s, but the further each defense got away from Chizik, the worse they became. Mushamp was overrated and owes Chizik for following his footsteps.

Let's be honest. Those were Tubs D. Every DC that left Tubs had failed.

Yea I like Ellis and the defensive staff we have now.

Think it was 5-19 and I don't think anyone is arguing that chizik isn't a terrible head coach.

IIRC, JJ made some promises to BOOM that he didn't keep......Just like he did with David Marsh, the greatest swimming coach on the planet, when he ran him off because he did the exact same thing with him. JJ could hire 20 HOF coaches, but I will never care for the guy.
I met BOOM and his wife when he was DC at Texas. I had an Auburn hat on. I walked right by him and didn't notice it was him. He said "War Eagle". I gave him one back before I even turned around. I was floored when I saw it was him. We talked for a good 5 minutes. He and his wife said they absolutely loved Auburn. He said, and I quote, "I don't have much use for the AD though". I didn't want to pry. I just told him he was not alone.

I just dont see Muschamp ever coming back to AU and certainly not to work for Gus. Just two different styles.

And Tuberville's defenses have sucked arse since getting canned from Auburn. Last years Cincy team was the first and only time his D has given up less than 30 ppg. Even Auburn wasn't that bad under Chizik.

Won't happen. Muschamp couldn't wait to get away from working under the tiny tyrant, and they have two different defensive philosophies now. Remember when $aban tried to get Jimbo to come back and work for him? Jimbo and Muschamp both couldn't stand working for him.
