Better QB coaching job, Kiffin or Homer Smith?

Too early to decide but not too early to start thinking about it. Homer made an All-SEC QB out of Gary Hollingsworth. Kiffin's coached a former RB to #4 in passing efficiency nationally.

Sims by far.

Dude is a converted WR/RB/DB into someone who passes in my opinion better than Mccarron. At least when he has time.

I'd say Homer Smith right now. If Blake can put together a few quality road games I'd be inclined to consider Kiff.

Now is the time. If Blake can go to Rocky Top and LSU and pass for around 500 yards in both games combined I'll start to consider Kiff in that conversation. We have to see more consistency from Blake on the road. I'm not sure what Kiff should do to help him with that.

One of my favorite Hollingsworth stories is Curry yelling at him in practice to run full speed. Gary gets back to the huddle and ask Homer, "he doesn't know that was full speed?"

He also gave us Brian Burgdorf.

Yep. Didn't Burg take like two snaps all season and then have to start in Gator Bowl vs UNC?

I know Blake played RB his first year, but let's not act like he was a true RB. If he was converted to anything it was rb then converted back to QB. he was an amazing high school QB, and has always had the talent.

Funky, I hear ya man. But Blake had no chance of reaching this level of play without a Kiffin type influence. I don't think anyone projected him as a D1 QB, much less a starter on a top 4 team in the first year of the playoff format. Blake has some skills for sure.

if anyone had listened to kiffin early on, we wouldnt have this thread. kiffin said straight-up he had nothing to do with sims progress. gave all the credit to the hard work sims put in on his own and with the qb guru guy he worked with, more than once.

so, the answer to the op's question is, homer smith
