James Holbrook Jr.

Holbrook is the former CEO of Sterne Agee Group Inc., a Birmingham-based investment bank, where he oversaw an aggressive expansion that involved numerous domestic and international acquisitions. The Sterne Agee board fired him earlier this year, after litigation by a former chief financial officer at the bank alleged that Holbrook misused company resources for private purposes.

At the same time that Sterne Agee fired Holbrook, it sued its auditing firm, maintaining that the firm misstated shareholder equity. Bloomberg news service has reported that the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Department of the Treasury were investigating Holbrook. Hubbard is charged with soliciting or receiving a thing of value from Holbrook, in the form of a $150,000 investment in Craftmaster
This guy is also a bammer booster. The gumps like to bring up Lowder, Rane, McGregor, etc but ignore their school has people like this

I think the Feds watched the Barron trail and learned they could not get a conviction. This has been rumored for over a year.

It'll be interesting to see how it plays out. I'm honestly shocked he was even indicted. Having that Repub super majority must have gone to his head

Do you realize your posts are routinely Gump-like in nature? You let this shite get under your skin too much. In short, you take the rivalry too seriously.

It was pushed by Stranges Office, before his dirty laundry leaked out. He handed it over to Lee County before his hands got dirty.

Fire up ATPB, get the chart updated. This leads directly to Cam.

Ebola needs to be added as well along with the "lost" IRS emails which would prove Cam got 180,000 dollars.

Frick you! If you don't like my post, don't read them. I would almost rather take the gumps shite than listen to other Auburn arse-holes like you lecture people on what they can or should say.

I'm simply saying the AEA has been on a warpath for Hubbard for years. Also, just because Siegelman went down doesn't mean the AEA wasn't still warring. Siegelman went far enough that his allies couldn't do anything to save him, and the same may be true for Hubbard. This "Mike is about to go down" story has happened every 6 months for 5 years. I don't know what has now pushed it over the top, although the timing is obvious.

It's not like they have been waiting for a decade and finally pounced when they caught him skirting the law once. They have him for dozens of instances where he used his public position for the profit of his private company. It's pretty damning evidence if you have kept up with it.

Having said that there is no way in hell I would become an Alabama legislator if I had anything at all to lose. It's the quickest way to finding yourself in prison simply by association.

You act like its this spurious connection. Hubbard was/is a big time player at AU and has been for years.

Don't be that guy. Hubbard will next say this is a plot by Obama to get him so your ilk will froth at the mouth and believe anything he says. Siegelman pulled this saying Karl Rove was after him

Do either of these guys weigh less than 155 pounds?

That is the official AU Board Fight Club minimum weight requirement.
If they are within a few pounds, TOTS are free for fighters on Wednesdays

"Obama's liberal allies in Montgomery", natch. That was the most laughable ad I've heard this cycle, and the competition is steep. If I was a Republican I'd even find this incredibly insulting to my intelligence.

Exactly. Its how Alabamians managed to elect a guy to the PSA who will keep our rates high. He literally ran ads saying he would fight "Obama, the EPA and their allies in Montgomery" It was so sleezy and cynical

It is pretty laughable that you are so worried about all this stuff when the most powerful member of the Alabama Board of Trustees should be in federal prison according to the author of the article linked below

I know, but it's not like they've just been building evidence either. There have been multiple attempts to get something started with largely the same set of events, and all have failed until now. What changed, I don't know.

I wouldn't say it is damning in the least. There is a pretty good chance he'll be acquitted.
