After the first game I posted here that Mauk sucks and got blasted. What does everyone think of him now?

think he gets little to no help from a coaching staff that doesn't understand his strengths and weaknesses.

Now there is the best assessment I've seen posted. They are taking a kid who came from a wide open, do whatever you want, here's 5 wide receivers...make it happen type of offense and trying to make him into a stay in the pocket, watch your footwork and read your progressions type of QB.

Go get the playbook from 7 years ago and watch the kid get better.

Mauk is going to be fine. He's a soph, there will be ups and downs. Mauk haters need to take some advice from ARodgers and relax.

Mauk is a big part of the problem, but the OL is struggling (but improving) and the WRs aren't getting open either. There are several issues that need to be addressed and it's tough to see after watching the flying circus offenses these past few years.

Even after you account for the OL and WRs, Mauk's performance is deficient. So often he just looks lost out there, made evident by the horrible throws he tries to make.

There are whispers coming out of Columbia that he's drinking too much beer and chasing too many ladies. I know GP is big on loyalty and stability, but if Mauk is indeed partying too much, GP needs to sit him down ASAFP.

Last year Mauk was clearly the backup, knew he was the backup, and prepared accordingly. He didn't want to be the guy who ran the ship aground while JF was out of commission.

Now that he's the man, there are rumors he's not putting in the time. Some people don't respond well when they know they have the job. I hope Maty's not one of those people.

Aww frick, another Kenny Hill...

Look, I ran with the team back in the late 90's, and there wasn't a guy on that team that wasn't getting fricked up and chasing tail at the bars every night. It's what you do in college. I've seen guys puking on the Friday before the Black and Gold game go out and perform just fine the next day.

Now, if he's boozing on Friday nights for home games, we've got a problem. However, last time I checked Gainesville isn't a home game and he sucked there.

Same with Columbia, SC.

I'm not buying it.

The late 90's teams were good, but not great. You're going to have to come up with something more compelling than that.

CD put in a legendary amount of time studying film, and JF and Brad are both pretty religious, so their distractions were minimal. Same thing with Tebow.

Game changing QBs of top teams are engaged, focused and dedicated. It should also be noted that GP's success is based more on a system that players buy into than on God given talent.

If Mauk isn't putting in the time to learn the system, he needs to start doing so or be sat down. He doesn't have the chops to wing it.

So, we're putting CD up on the pedestal?

What about 2008? Must've spent too much time being "legendary". I have it on good authority that he did just that.

JF and Brad were good because of Jesus? Now I've heard it all.

frick it, Maty Mauk should not chase tail or drink.

Nor should any of our QBs.

Film study and prayer, THATS A GODDAMN MIZZOU QB.

Absolutely, HCGP should pour a couple of his Jumbos have a sit down and tell the young man to leave the drinking and tail chasing to HCGP.

Did I go overboard there?

It didn't bother me.

I'm with you. Most college kids have pretty amazing stamina and thresholds. I'd guess that Mauk's issues are deeper than hanging out at a bar and trying to score chicks.

Hey Remote, you're a little slow tonight. Try and stay with me this time...

I didn't mean to imply Jesus helped Brad, JF or Tebow. The point I was trying to make is that their lack of interest in 'extracurricular activities' made for fewer distractions.

And yeah, CD cratered in '08, but he also has a Super Bowl ring and has been a #2 QB in the NFL for going on six years. The guy has to be doing something right.

What was that you were saying about your late '90s running buddies from those oh-so-memorable Mizzou teams?

BTW, the term 'frick' is a bit dated and very much overused. What's next from you, 'butthurt?'
