Look, I dislike Ole Miss. But it's not a game that gets circled every year. It is this year since y'all field a good team and beat LSU last year. But most LSU fans don't circle Ole Miss.

Does not need to be renamed just because of on good season from both teams. 90%+ of the time, the egg bowl is the perfect name for the game.
Pretty much how I picture the game every year.

Ohhh I get it, because you decided to put a name on it, that automatically erases all the times we played before 1980. Logical.
If the basis of the rivalry is number of games played, then MSU is a bigger rival to both of you than you are to each other.
So we're OM's biggest rival, LSU's biggest rival, Bama's biggest rival, and Auburn's second biggest ahead of Bama. Cool.

Isn't the story that when the State and Ole Miss students fought after the game, and the student bodies commissioned a trophy, the trophy maker didn't have a football so he used a rugby ball. It turned out more like this.
It turned out more like this:
When it got to Mississippi, it looked like a Golden Egg instead of a Golden football. The name stuck.
Another cool story about the trophy was that when Vaught was beating our arse every year the trophy became an afterthought. They shipped it to an engraver in Hattiesburg to have the score engraved and it never came back. It was lost for several years.
Anyway, it was found in a closet in Laurel some years later by an MSU alum, who turned it over to MSU administration. That year, MSU won for the first time in a while, and out trotted the lost trophy.

you don't need a trophy to be rivals
I agree, but that is when those "Bowls" started.

I think it shoud be changed to The Haley's Comet Bowl, because it's only worth watching once every 76 years.

Yep, we may be all team Landmass now, but this game is known to get ugly regardless if it "matters" or not.

Not true.
Hands down dirtiest talker I've ever banged. I mean would make you blush.
And always had suggestions. Showed up at my place a couple of times with a tackle box. Girl had skills.

If she was a chicken, that would make her a vegetarian, and if he got laid, then he would be an egg
If they had sex, and she came first, well than you have the answer to an age old question.

Ole Miss won't be respectable anymore after Saturday night.

I've never heard this before. Do you have kind of link for this? If this is legit, I can't believe I'm just now finding out about this. Good stuff.

I read a great account of it somewhere. I'll see if I can find it.
It was in the 60s/70s run. I believe it was the '74 season when we had a good year after 33 years of sucking when the trophy made a surprise appearance. Literally found in the back of a closet in Laurel. No idea how it got there.
I love stories that have a "That could never happen today" feel to them.

Magnolia bowl is between Ole Miss and LSU. It's the egg bowl, and it will always stay that way.
