Why does the history of close games between LSU/OM mean anything?

Just asking for betting advice. OM -3 seems way too tempting. I know it's Saturday night in Death Valley, but the main reason people say to watch out and it's a "trap" is because it's always a close game. When has Ole Miss actually been favored and how did they perform? It usually seems like LSU is a big favorite and keeps it close which doesn't seem like a reason to bet on them when they're pretty heavily outmatched.

Kinda what I think. I mean it's usually LSU that keeps a inferior Ole Miss team around. That means nothing for Ole Miss shitting the bed against an inferior LSU team.

But Vegas knows something...they aren't handing out free money

Yea, previous games played means nothing. It's all about the matchup on the field. How does LSU's offense matchup with Ole Miss' defense and vice versa. I think we've seen that LSU's home field advantage isn't worth as much this year with the MSU throttling.

LSU controlled that game.

Irrelevant though, as Ole Miss should beat LSU.

I dont know why you are being snarky. Ole Miss is a much more complete football team than LSU.

The amount of disrespect that the LSU players will recieve this week will be the most they have ever heard in their time at LSU. They will be dismissed and ridiculed all week. They will be treated like a punch line. See this board for evidence. And they are a pretty talented 4-5 star bunch, playing much better of late, and the crowd will be LOUD and raucous. It just sets up well for LSU despite the really blatantly obvious personnel advantage Ole Miss has when their defense is on the field.

So although Ole Miss looks like a cinch on paper, there is a certain psychological motivator at play here, between two programs that really don't like each other one bit.

Of course Ole Miss has covered the spread IN EVERY GAME thus far, so there is that too...

Couldn't that be said regarding the "history" of any matchup?

Usually, we are their Super Bowl. This year, the script is flipped and they are our "SuperBowl." TigerStadium, IMO, is at its best when LSU is the underdog.

LSU may or may not win, but there's no doubt in my mind this game is coming down to the final minutes.

If Alabama, Florida, UGA, LSU, Auburn oftentimes struggle to go undefeated, I guarantee you OleMiss is going to struggle to go undefeated. There is a damn good chance they crack under pressure in one of the most haunted stadiums in America this Saturday...we shall see, but I think it's a slam-dunk this game is going to be close. Ole Miss has been a thorn in LSU's side for years, and for the first time in forever LSU gets to play the role of spoiler, and there's something oddly appealing about being in that role for this particular game.
