Right now at 4:38 pm on October 20, I would have to say it'll be FSU, Mich St, Alabama, and Notre Dame. Subject to change by 4:45.

Let's really frick this up.

FSU (13-0)
Oregon (12-1)
Mich State (12-1)

They all win out.

Georgia loses one more conference game, but backs into the SEC championship game.

AU/Alabama/Miss St./Ole Miss one loss apiece, or however that would work out. Maybe one is undefeated over there and plays us.

We win. Conference champs with two losses, multiple West teams with one loss.

Who goes? That is a mess.

This new system is going to be so much more of a clusterfrick than it ever was with the BCS...

Yes. This is where I would tend to agree with Jeff. The "fix" has the potential to be worse than the "problem", if there ever was one.

I abhorred the BCS era, and while I don't mind a true playoff (super conferences, champs get the seats), there really was nothing wrong with the old bowl system. The endless debates were part of the charm of college football.

"Charm" and "college football" are terms that are rapidly moving away from one another...

Nothing short of a 16 team playoff will quiet everybody, imo. If you don't make the top 16, you don't deserve shot so GTFO.

4 team playoff is progress, and it is an improvement over the BCS, but it's not perfect. I have a hard time seeing us go to 16 teams any time soon. Maybe our 2048 class will see it

It's going to be a frick up, and needs to happen to get where everyone already knows it has to be - a 16 team playoff (at least).

Eventually we'll have a 32 team playoff and that will be that.

But this is college football and is run by clowns.

Thus it has been, and will continue to be, a long slow process. But at least we're moving in the right direction, no matter how slowly.

Ah....ha ha ha.

Yes. Short of the super conference system, where there can be no opinion and/or subjectivity, there will always be a fricking mess.

And here I stand with Jefferson, longing for the good old days.

Look away, look away, look away....onward.

The 16 team system with a selection committee will still have its problems.

Now, you make 16 conferences, and you remove the mess. That said, you'd bust up teams from traditional conferences, creating ill will in the process.

Every fix creates a new set of problems. The fix that'll stick won't be what's best for the fans. No, it'll be what makes the NCAA and its member schools the most money.

At that point, one must decide if they are enjoying the product, and vote with his or her remote...

Just me but 16 is too many IMO... 8 teams with the 1st game on campus of the higher seeded team should be enough. Any more than 8 devalues the regular season IMO...

If it's 8 #9 will bitch, if it's 16, #17 will bitch etc...

Any more than 8 (maybe 16) you gotta cut 1 regular season game off the schedule unless they just drop the pretense of being a Student-Athlete org...

You're right. 16 teams means we have the NFL problem of last couple games meaning shite for some teams...and if you have automatic bids for conference championships, then it could be even worse. Imagine if the Clemson and GT games didn't mean a damn thing for us this year.

In the super conference scenario, those games wouldn't exist. Conference games only.

Get your head around that.

There is no scenario in which traditions can be protected. Is that where we want to go?

All bullshite aside, we would likely be screaming "wait till next year!" already, were it not for this four team playoff, as would some other teams. It has increased the season for me, so there is some good coming from this. But it will get messy. Oh yes, it will...
