Well pack it up and lets go home. No use in even finishing the season.

Archie Manning has announced he will step down due to non life threatening health issues. ESPN saying it was related to a previous knee issue and possible back issues.

Been rumblings of this for a few days.

From an OM perspective he couldn't have done any good for us because he wouldn't have been allowed any input regarding Ole Miss.

Sad that the committee is losing a great voice though. I wonder what the health issue is? I saw him early Saturday morning sitting on a front porch drinking coffee and he looked fine.

Over a back and knee issue though?

Guess it takes breaking the necks of the other members to get what you want because other than that, whats the physical labor here?

This is a pretty big deal, especially for the Mississippi schools that are going to have at least a loss this year. Obviously with his ole miss ties, but Archie was also a follower of Mississippi state growing up as a kid. (Quote: I'll always remember the days of looking forward to listening to Jack Cristol call MSU games on the radio with my father). Losing his voice for the state of MS in that comittee couldn't have come on a worse season.

Glad it's nothing worse than that.

Are Jeffy and Condi the only sec-ish members left?

Ever seen highlights of the Saints O line during the 70s? Archie is lucky he's able to even walk

What a bitch move by Archie. I know this shite can wait until after the season. He could have stepped down months ago as well.

SEC is screwed. Notre Dame, FSU, Oregon, and SEC champion are now locked in.

He's having knee replacement surgery. Sounds like a political move to me. Very likely that State and/or OM is involved in the playoff.

SEC will now have no pure SEC rep in the room. Your observation seems spot on

Could be more political than just that.

Of the 12 left, who will be that pro SEC?

Bigger question will be if there is no replacement or if replacement is not tied to SEC.

He's having another surgery and will only be able to sit around and watch football all day. He can't be on the committee.

I think he really is having health problems. This isn't just about Ole Miss and State. He wasn't at Peyton's record breaking game last night.
