game every year before the season even starts so far in advance?

Makes no sense that games is the CBS game this year.

Curious why they go ahead and pick that game every year before the year...especially since Florida has been a dumpster fire.

Ratings. It's a ratings game even in down years.

Dude. SEC much?

WLOCP is one of the handful of traditional huge games every year. DSOR, TSIO, IB, WLOCP and I guess now the fricking "Egg Bowl".

CBS hand picks those games every year because they are critical to who wins the SEC Championship.

Why don't you email or better yet call CBS?

Why not wait until a week or 2 out just like almost every other week?

CBS has first pick, what's the rush.

You should recognize dumpster fires.

Because it's the best rivalry in the SEC?

Traditional rivalries. Same reason people watch Michigan/Ohio State regardless of season's success.

It's a good game and a great rivalry even if you're not a fan of either team unlike TSIO or the Egg Bowl.

No doubt. Our 'dumpster fire' teams never seemed to make CBS though.

Because it is a staple SEC game that has deep traditional roots?

I guess they had to commit to showing an SEC east game a couple of times?

Otherwise it would just be an SEC West network this year,

Because you're Ole Miss. I'm not trying to talk shite because USC is in the same boat. We're the types of schools that get on TV if we're doing well but not if we're sucking because we don't have the national interest to draw in viewers regardless of our performance. Florida and Georgia are both programs that people will watch even if they're sucking.

Hasn't it been on CBS every season since the early 1980s?

I get that. I really do. Just makes no sense CBS picks a game that far in advance, and therefore opens up the possibility of missing out on better match-up. WHy not wait, which they prolly had the right to do so. Just don't understand the pre-determine.

More to the point, UF and UGA are teams that will likely be good again shortly no matter how bad they might suck in a given year. CBS is just maintaining the course.

1) One of the SEC's truly great rivalries. Probably the most hateful on-field rivalry.
2) Consistently two of the better teams in the conference.
3) The biggest game that weekend more often than not.
4) Two of the biggest markets in the conference.
5) National appeal.
6) Uniqueness of the neutral site rivalry.

etc.
