That Printz connected at a 60% rate looks impressive by comparison.

he was running a lot of 2nd unit with Brown Lee and Moore, that had to be a factor.

It's a shame we have no choice but to sit back and watch this stubborn man destroy our program. It's not right.

a gunslinger is not remotely Pinkels MO of a QB, yet he doesn't even see it, that's kind of astounding.

Good point. These kids should be seeing the field more, not less.

Hey I know Printz is "the future" QB at some point, but what makes anyone think a freshman ( I think) QB with almost no game experience is going to do any better than MM? Your next step is Berk. Has size, arm and running ability. It's the one thing no one has talked about during all these discussions. The ability of the QB to run the ball. It's what makes this spread click. MM doesn't have it, Printz I couldn't tell you. But Berk does. He's big enough to take the beating. He isn't flashy, but he can run this offense.

I'd be for a swap if it was Berk. It's too soon for Printz. He needs more time.

First, not you Jafo but an earlier poster...GP is not running the program into the ground. This year still has a legitimate chance to have as many wins as Chase and Blaine's and Franklin's first years under the helm. It's frustrating because any semblance of an offense could result in winning the east, but failing to win the east is far from running it into the ground.

Jafo, as to yours...I'd have no problem with either. Yes, Printz is a redshirt freshman, but I don't think he's the QB of the future. It will run from Mauk to Lock. I also don't think either should be given the starter's role, but a series or two and working into more series the longer Mauk's struggles continue. I just wish it would have started in game 1.

He was using 2nd unit WR's and OLine and playing against the 1st unit defense most of the time. Frankly, Mauk's numbers should have blown everyone else out of the water. My concern is this is not a 3 game slide. This is something that has never even gotten started.

Mauk saying preseason they can fix the passing game. What did we hear after 6 games? Mauk saying they can fix the passing game. How long do you go before you actually try to fix it? Wait until after the season and say oh, well, you know what? We should have fixed it.

Hey, I remember Franklins first year. Wasn't always pretty. But he had one attribute as well as Chase and even Blaine to an extent that MM doesn't. The ability to make those tough runs. Their ability to run the ball and gash defenses was a legit weapon that defense had to plan for.

I just don't think Printz is the answer. Just personal unprofessional opinion. You might as well leave MM in there. If you want to change the dynamics of the offense, Berk is your guy.

Again, not flashy. But plays within himself and can execute the offense.

Then I could always be totally way off here.

You have to give this team one thing. You never know what team will show up or how they will play from week to week. Gotta be a planning nightmare for opposing DC's.

Nah, you pretty much know. Load the box, blitz the middle. Mauk can't beat you.

It was pretty clear he got out performed in the offseason, but given his near miraculous 4 games in reserve, I understood the inclination to go with him anyway.

Yea it sounds very much like coachspeak imitation, really not too concerned about what he says, only what he does. Mauk has never come off as being a big thinker, he speaks slow and imprecise, I've a sneaking suspicion he played mostly on instinct in HS and never had to 'over think' anything.

The real concern is what Pinkel is doing or thinking or more like not thinking, we already know he fancies himself a Don James coaching a Warren Moon, but does he actually have a clue what's happening? Outside of calling a fake punt from time to time, his sideline coaching is a disaster, his constant taking a knee with time on the clock, not using time outs, except maybe to ice his own kicker, a no huddle that constantly draws delay of game. You could use Pinkels game day coaching as a film study in what not to do if you want to succeed.

Now he's sending Mauk out every time like a floundering Major League manager trying to get a struggling pitcher right by just sending him out to the mound over and over, all the time getting the hell hit out of him. The hope that things just "fix themselves" without much or any tweaking of mechanics, healing injury or getting the mind right, just shear reps must fix it. I was hoping Andy Hill would at least be better than Yost at coaching these kids, but watching Mauk struggle to find anyone, abandon the pocket early and run for his life for the sideline is becoming far too predictable.

I'm not sure if repetition of doing the wrong thing is worse than doing nothing, but it might be. Is sending the message of confidence to Mauk not the same as sending the message of no-confidence to the backups? The coaching inadequacies are piling up and the ability for kids like Ray and Golden to outperform them are limited.

I cannot remember a time when GP did not get the 2nd String QB in the game.

There have been several times. Unless you are talking about mop up duty. He only does this when he knows his starter won't be around the following year.

He's very hesitant to mess with his starters psyche, or create any type of controversy as best as I can tell.
