The Chubb effect. Before the season, who would've thought our second string/now starter would lead Bama's starter halfway through the season.

As a side note, the fact that Gurley is still the overall leader (by almost 100 yards) even after being suspended 2 weeks and only playing 1 quarter in the Troy game is unreal.

At this point, I don't expect to see Gurley back. And let me clarify that. The team will continue - something I did not expect to be honest. I was so disappointed when I first heard the news. The team has responded and shown they are not a one-man show.

If he comes back, I will be elated JUST because I love watching him play. It makes our games so much more exciting! I really really want to see him again. Hopefully he will be back for Florida, or worst case-case - Auburn (either 2 or 4 game suspension; it'd be weird for him to still be practicing if he knew he wasn't playing again...but this isn't an impossible scenario).

Maybe we'll get good news in the next 2 weeks...

Once the commentators abandoned the "Chubb's-only-playing-because-Gurley's-fate-is-still-unknown" narrative, I realized that I totally forgot about Gurley not being there midway through Q2. It's still shitty that we lost the eye of the tiger in the 2nd half, but it's hard not to appear to have backed off after going into the half 38-6.

Lowest number of attempts on the list is Gurley, who also has the most yards.

And we are lucky to have Chubb. And we get KM and Sony back.

Word on another board is we're supposed to hear something tomorrow...but obviously we all know how THOSE type of posts have gone the last 2 weeks

So I wouldn't put too much stock in it..but it's something I guess.

lol

eta: bulldogbob, who is one of the best insiders on any UGA board, said like 2 days after the suspension was first announced it'd be 2 games, and hasn't said anythign to the contrary.

I think, despite all UGA fan's fear that the worst will always happen, it was always reasonable to assume he wouldnt' miss any more than 2 games. And probably shouldnt' have even missed 2. The bigger quesiton to me is the WHEN, not the how many. I just want it to be over with.

Yeah, my feeling was Gurley admitted to taking cash and UGA had no choice but to suspend as per NCAA rules. If he he had lied (or if he had broken the real law)- he may played against Mizzou and Arky.

I think that CMR's record for punishment of violations is far less severe than punishing a player for lying when asked about an alleged violation. As they say, "It's not the crime, it's the cover-up." Remember that the cover-up is the whole reason Nick Marshall was dismissed from the team. The lie about what Seay and the the other dudes did was what caused him to get the boot.
