Since Simms can't read defenses it seems Kiff takes a look and changes the play, and this is far easier at home with no noise. Seems on the road, the communication is much tougher ( of course ) so we had problems.

At least that's what I took from his comments, even though he didn't spell it out the way I did.

So a lot of the jumps and such could be because the play is coming in late and some of the players arent on the same page.

Simms has the ability, he needs to get in the film room and learn to read defenses.

I like the kid and think he is far better than Coker, but that little extra is keeping him from being super great instead of very, very good.

That is most likely why Kiff didn't go to the press box.

Let's hope LSU is still shite then, because Baton Rouge is not necessarily the place for communication problems.

Alabama should theoretically be able to handle Tennessee and LSU with great defense alone. "should" being the key word.

Or lets get some signs like Auburn has, you know, lets do whatever it takes to communicate.

I think Coker is a deer in the headlights and I doubt he ever earns the starting position.

I think we might start a true freshman next year, if he signs with us, that kid is awesome.

Well, like I said last week, lets not get all down and out, I know we have the best talent, we just got to figure out how to.make it simple and let them to play fast.

I'd like to see it on the road before I get too optimistic about a serious run. No secret that we've been a different team in our two road games this year. I'd like to think it was more of just a need to rally together, which I think they've done in the past 5 quarters.

Blake has to stop staring Cooper down. Those will be pick 6s against LSU.

I don't understand how Alabama has a senior starting QB that "can't read defenses." That's kind of embarrassing. It's not rocket science.

1). There is not truth to what OP said. Blake makes calls at the line all the time. Just in this past game he checked from runs to pass twice in the early minutes of the first quarter.

2). Can you read a defense on college level? If you can't, don't tell others how easy it can/should be.

Don't usually agree with YStar but this is true. Also he is a redshirt senior but he played RB and has been through 3 offensive coordinators I believe so it could be tough on him. Weve never really had any great QBs. He is doing very well.

- I said Saban was right to protect his team and lash out at the fans last week.

- I said this team doesn't suck, won't lose a bunch and that the fans shouldn't give up.

- I said we shouldn't give up on the team after Ole Miss.

- I said we shouldn't re-start a QB competition after Ole Miss.

- I said OJ should have caught that pass and that he isn't giving his best effort which is why he is dropping so many.

- I said Blake was bad against Arky, but our problems begin with O-Line's performance.

- I said we should believe in our team and that we should beat A&M, Rocky Drop and LSU.

Lastly, I said we are going to win out. This hasn't been proven yet, but for all the shite I received, my argument has been against negative talk about the team producing this season. My points are correct, my means of delivering them are too mean for this forum.

If you didn't agree with all that... well... okay.

Well I agree with you Ystar and I think you've been one of the better posters here lately. You're spot on about Sims making calls at the line.

OP is an arse clown who can't even spell the QBs name so I give absolutely no weight to his assessment of QBs abilities. There always has to be at least one damn fool poster with something ridiculous to say, even after a 59-0 beatdown.

Agree, and once again, it is obvious, he is waaaay ahead of Coker, so, he's the best chance we have.

We'll then you are clueless as to the facts sir.

Gart Daneilson clearly stated that Kiffen told him he can help Simms better at home than on the road, the only difference is crowd noise for and against. None of the qbs ate reading defenses now in the spread, or only a few, they come to the line and let the coaches make the adjustments to the defenses with calls, be it hand signals or large signs.

Kiffen was kept fown on the field in order to do just that, because our 2 qbs are not capable of reading defenses and making the proper changes.

If Simms can read defenses, why does he continually throw to Cooper when he is double covered? Instead of taking what is given to him. AJ could check us into a running play or pass play on his own, you rarely saw him look to the sidelines, Simms is constantly looking to the sideline.

Hell the reason we quit huddling Saban said was because Simms played better vs West Virginia wothout a huddle, WHY? because if you go to the huddle and come out and the defense shows you a bad look for the play called, the adjustment had to come frim Kiffen, which left less time on the play clock, so why not just play without a huddle and allow Kiffen to adjust like HUNU teams, even though we aren't HUNU.

If you can't see our confusion getting play calls in late on the road then you are blind, we clearly were getting the play off with 1 to 4 seconds on the road because of the noise.

I think we will have to disagree.

I hope we fix the problem.

I would be more inclined to believe you "liked the kid" if you learned to spell his name.

But that might be asking too much. I mean it's only written on the back of his jersey and shown on TV a couple of hundred times a week.

Hey Ystar aren't you glad that Saban got our message about not giving up on the season and benching Sims to work towards next years team and make sure we have an experienced qb. You know Whew

Gart Daneilson clearly stated

Garry Danielson also clearly stated Blake Sims was checking out of run plays to throw the ball.

If you knew anything about football you would know that Blake Sims is going through his pre-snap look attempting to decipher what the defense was doing then checking to a play to exploit them.

If he couldn't read the defense, he wouldn't be able to do this. He wouldn't check at all, he'd just run whatever play Kiffin originally called for him. He doesn't do that, he obviously takes his PSL then checks, which is why sometimes it takes a long time to snap the ball. Sometimes he makes the right checks, sometimes he doesn't. Sometimes he makes the right reads, sometimes he gets hung up on starring Coop down.

We don't have to agree to disagree. I'm just stating the facts. Garry Danielson has never said "Blake Sims can't read the defense". You're completely making stuff up.

Love Sims but I don't think hes very smart . He is however our best option and looked damn good Sat. The play calling and the way they used Sims was much improved. Hopefully the rest of the year looks the same.
