Sounds off on Winston and Gurley

I am a Georgia Bulldog thru and thru. Always have and always will be. I am also a huge fan of Todd Gurley. I never got to see Herschel wear the red and black because I was born in 1980. So having Gurley in Athens is to me like I'm sure y'all who got to witness Herschel was. I was thinking during the Tennessee game this year just how special it is getting to see a RB like Gurley wear the red and black. And how I should be taking all of it in getting to watch him. I'm hurt that Todd allegedly broke the rules and is having to face the consequences. I hope he has learned from this and gets to put on the Red and Black again.
GO DAWGS!!

I said many reasons.....

Trans-Am accusations

He has no true inside knowledge of what really happened

Gurley is being compared to him more than any back since him

He compared TG to Winston

Oh, and the Trans-Am accusations....

Walker is a sanctimonious hypocrite. I know for a fact that Walker received a secret $250,000 loan while he was still playing for Georgia. Walker's family got a new house and swimming pool.

Walker drove around in the famous black Pontiac Firebird that many have speculated about.

I'm extremely disappointed that Herschel would question Gurley's character just to make himself look better.

Jealous much, Herschel?

Nah, he is just a crotchety old man. Happens to the best of us.

He is probably bitter than he had to go play in a crappy league to get out early AND earn the big bucks. BUt he invested his money pretty well.

Actually, you sound like the one who is mad because he called out your precious. Just can't get past the fact that he knowingly broke the rules, can you?

DId you even read the article?

This place is almost unreadable now.....

It's just a bunch of spiteful 15 year-olds who aren't getting their way, so the only thing they know to do is to squat down and take a shite in their own hand and and then see how far they can fling it........

It's a lowest common-denominator fest. We should start handing out Prizes...........

If you read the entire article he is more so comparing the universities as a whole and looking at it in a "Big Picture" kind of way.

That being the case he is supporting UGA and pretty much calling FSU what they are.

I know that if it was done, Todd owned it and is not holding anything against CMR who whether we like it or not Is doing the right thing by Todd and the school.

UGA is doing the right thing as expected and FSU not so much..... as expected.

I support Todd, UGA and honestly Walker's comments.

First of all if your calling Hershcell anything other than the God he is then you have no right calling yourself a Dawg. Second....it ain't fair for anyone to compare Gurley to Herschel because there is no comparison....Gurley is unbelievably good....but he ain't no Herschel Walker....Bo Jackson, as great as he was, wasn't another Herschel Walker.

Gurley does not have the ability to run the ball 45 times a game for 11 weeks in a row. Gurley is as good a tailback as we have seen in years but Herschel was at a level that no one has ever approached.

By the way he is right on this also....there are about 30000 other kids at UGA right now who are working hard and will hopefully be the leaders of tomorrow and they are all learning a lesson in this situation as bad as it sucks....

Herschel:

1. The best college player ever (per ESPN and me).
2. Has always been a UGA fan/supporter. Never waivered that I have heard of. Never a bad word.
3. Played in a different time when rules were different and the "game" was different. So yes, he had a car and his family got some benefits, but you had to be in the time. And who knows all the facts here.
4. I watched the SEC storied the other night, if you watch Herschel, you will realize he was much better than Todd is. You knew he would get the ball and he would just run over you and then outrun everyone.
5. Shame on anyone disrespecting #34.

By the way, I had to pull off of the road going around the coliseum once so Herschel, in his TransAm could go by. He was going the wrong way, but I didn't mind.

Don't think anyone is necessarily disrespecting him. He just shouldn't be making comments on the matter. Like you said, he was there in a "different time."

Again, love the guy and believe he is the best player to ever play college ball, but that doesn't qualify him to speak on this matter.

He is way more qualified than any of us. I was never a Heisman quality player. I was never a college player. I never got to experience first hand the pressure of going from a rural high school player to having everyone in the US know my name in one year. I never got to experience the above and below table recruiting tactics. I never had to make a decisions knowing my name now represented UGA, its fans, alumni, coaches and players.

So yeah, I think he is pretty well qualified.

I respect Herschel even more now for voicing his opinion about this.

It's nice that some people in that world actually have principles and think for themselves.....instead of just regurgitating non-answers and non-opinions like everybody else of his stature that gets asked the same questions he was asked on the radio.

Well said... If the greatest player in CFB history and a great ambassador for and supporter of UGA isn't qualified to comment, then no one is...

Amen.

Very strange disconnect going on with some people on here. I have to wonder if they even know which side are they actually on............
