are you talking about that residential area on shackelford past the school and that kroger where you can drive and end up at rodney parham (i think it's rodney right?)

if so, that area always looks fine/decent to me- i don't live there but i am around there fairly often.

Thanks pigg

MANY years ago I worked off Kanis Rd which was kind of close (I think) and it seemd fine then. I lived off Mississipi/Cantrell which was the opposite side, so I never paid much attention to the housing. I can't remember much about the area for the life of me. Old age. shite is setting in.

There is a JC Penney and Longhorn Steakhouse over there. If that helps narrow it down.

Hmmmm...not a lot of housing around there. West of Shackleford towards Bowman is fine.

That's how I see it, too. Only thing I have seen that I would question in the area are some of the apartments along Mara Lynn near the school.

I think that would be Shackleford Crossing Shopping Center along 430 which has JC Penney, Longhorn, Wal Mart and all that stuff but it is on South Shackleford a fair piece from Markham & Shackleford.

no, i just looked it up, i'm thinking of the shackelford crossing mall. i should really just shut up on the matter, i'm very sleep deprived and don't know enough to even be giving my opinion probably.

edit: yes, what the litigator said

Definitely. The houses immediately surrounding are kinda sketchy, too. Combination of the apartments and the traffic, I think. Gets better as you head up Shackleford towards Rodney Parham. But those apartments on Green Mountain are notorious for trouble.

The area between Executive Center Parkway and Markham is an interesting little neighborhood. It seems to be holding on for now, but it could turn very quickly, IMO.

If OP is looking for a house in the Shackleford Crossings area I'd suggest going west of I430 and you have several good residential neighborhoods, some newer than others, off of Bowman. My favorite out in that area would be Brodie Creek LINK but there are other good neighborhoods as well.

Yeah, those are good choices, too-- lived in a couple of 'em.

I live fairly close to there. It's kind of sketchy at that intersection. There was a recent shooting at one of the apartments along Mara Lynn, and there are occasional shootings at the apartments on Green Mountain near Rodney Parham and near the Exxon at that intersection. The low-life who murdered the real estate agent was recently caught near the apartments on Green Mountain. Nappa Valley is a bit of a dividing line. West of Nappa Valley is very nice, and just east of Nappa Valley is still fairly nice but still a bit of a de-militarized zone. The closer you get to Green Mountain, the less nice it gets.

I was thinking the area around where Mara Lynn intersects Green Mountain wouldn't be one of my choices to live. I've known different people that lived in those apartments on the other end of Green Mountain where it intersects Rodney Parham and I thought they were okay but they may have gone downhill. I know they've been there a long time.

I think OP was actually describing the area further south on Shackleford where Shackleford Crossings is located which would be a good place to live provided you are west of I430.
