We know that Bama fans tend to act like they have dominated our Tigers over the years and many, if not most, national people seem to carry that belief.

But the reality is that for such a storied program as the one Bama has it's quiet remarkable that if the outcome of just 4 games had been differently Auburn would lead the overall series by 1 game.

4 Games... just 4 games.

The reality is, from 1959 (Bryant's 2nd year) to 1981 (his next to last) they owned our collective asses. Beat us 19 times in 23 games. Of course during that stretch they were outstanding (.84151 winning percentage over that span, #1 in Division 1A).

And they basically had no real challengers in the SEC in those days either. The next highest Conference team in overall D1A winning percentage was LSU at #15 (.68288), followed by UGa (#16, .67059), UT (#20, .64706) and then us (#23, .62903).

But it is what it is. The only way we will ever change that perception of dominance is to go on another significant streak. If we can keep Gustav around for a few more years, it's a possibility - especially if Bama regresses to the mean on their next HC hire.

This year is huge. Win it and perception will change even more.

Bama owned us during the Bear years. But Auburn was better Pre-Bear and Post Bear.

I did not look this up, but this is always what I have been told.

Bear was 19-6 against us only losing in 58, 63, 69, 70, 72, and 82.

Beat some good AU teams (71, 74, 79, 59, 60) and some bad ones (75,76,77)

Against a weak schedule, with two future NFL Pro Bowl RBs in our backfield. Unfortunately we had a defense that matched our 2012 unit, only less talented.

I watched the 1979 AU team in person. We were not good.
