Coach Richt said they should know Gurley ruling before bus leaves for Airport on Friday. He has been practicing all week and if he is ruled eligible, he will play.
Get it right NCAA and #freeGurley!

@SethEmerson: UGA says that Richt was only saying that they should know by Friday morning whether Gurley is eligible. If no ruling, then he won't travel.

No reason he shouldn't play. Innocent until proven guilty.

This is slightly off topic from Gurley, but I heard earlier today that members of Georgia's athletic department were at the NCAA headquarters today to appear before the NCAA infractions committee for violations committed by their swimming program. If the swimming program ends up on probation which they likely will, Georgia will then be tied for most NCAA infractions in the conference along with Texas A&M and Auburn

I'm pretty sure that playing an ineligible player forfeits games.
At least... that's what the rule book says.
But who reads books.
This is college football.

I think we will know by Friday morning. Either they got something on him or they don't...

I believe you're right. I guess by point is that if he isn't ineligible as we speak, then I don't think you should be able to retroactively claim someone ineligible.

It isn't retroactive.
Ineligible would be due to breaking a rule and being forced to sit games. Teams don't get to pick and choose games.
Ignoring a problem/NCAA involvement leads to game forfeitures. See tOSU, GT... and I think Bama had to forfeit games around 2006 or so.

Dudes guilty as hell but the rule is bullshite. He lawyered up and they'll find a procedural way to get him back on the field. Same shite with Jaboo at FSU.

Fully expect Gurley to be able to play against Arkansas.
Everyone always seems to be scared shitless to play the hogs at less than full strength.
Bring it on cheaters.

No proof unless Gurley admitted

Ask Zach Mettenberger about little white lies.
I don't see UGA as the type of program that pisses in the face of the NCAA.
We leave that to the GTs, tOSUs, and Dez Bryant's of the world.

Well, he might be ineligible. No one knows. More importantly, we don't know if they NCAA can prove that he is. By the rulebook, you're ineligible as soon as you commit an offence that ends your eligibility (ie as soon as you take money for autographs, jerseys, etc). Right now, the NCAA is trying to find out if he is or not.
Think about it this way. If you start feeling sick and wait a month to go to the doctor, you still have whatever illness it is. Until the doctor diagnoses you, you just don't know what the disease is. Obviously, that's not a binary situation, but it's the same concept. If Gurley took money for the autographs, jerseys, etc then he is ineligible. Even if the NCAA doesn't rule him ineligible, he could be ineligible, but it won't matter because it cannot be proven, so he won't be punished for it.
Disclaimer: Do not take this as me supporting the silly rules about athletes getting paid for autographs, jerseys, etc. This is just pointing out why UGA is having to sit him out until the NCAA investigation concludes.
