In my opinion, the staff should start placing more of an emphasis on recruiting kids from the Chicago area.

With quality of play in the B1G getting worse every year, these kids are becoming more open to going further away in order to play in better conferences. As a result, schools like LSU, OM, Tenn, have started going hard after the best prospects from this area. IMO, we should start taking advantage of our relatively close proximity to this area.

Why should these kids go 3-4 hours from home to play at Michigan, tOSU, etc, when they can come here and get much better exposure by playing against far superior competition?

Kentucky has been doing this lately by plucking recruits from B1G territory in Ohio, and are already seeing results.

These kids clearly want to play against the best competition possible, IMO we should be taking advantage of this while the B1G is down.

I agree. Tough thing is that the B1G & ND recruit huge in Chicago & there has to be a person assigned solely to Chicago and that means taking somebody out of Florida or Georgia.
We were trying hard to recruit Laquon Treadwell 2 years ago. Didn't work and he went to Ole Miss. How awesome would he be right now?

Well, not Chicago, but in Illinois:

#1 Beckner(ESL, 5* DE): Mizzou is in on (I hope).
#2 Strong(ESL, 4* RB): Mizzou commit.
#3 Boykin(Chicago, 4* WR): Mizzou pursued but lost to ND.
#4 Raequan Williams(Chicago, 3* DT): Mizzou is pursuing.
#5 Megginson(Jacksonville, 3* OT): Mizzou pursued but lost to Illinois.
#6 Trevor Ruhland(Chicago, 3* OG): No MU offer. ND commit.
#7 Demry Croft (Rockford, 3* QB): No MU offer(we have Lock). Minnesota commit.
#8 David Edwards (Chicago, 3* TE): No MU offer(went after Hentges/Imatorbhebhe). Wisconsin commit.
#9 Micah Dew-Treadway(Chicago, 3* DE): No MU offer. ND commit.
#10 Flynn Nagel(Chicago, 3* WR): No MU offer. Duke commit.

I agree about focusing on Illinois. It looks like the Big 10 isn't the biggest taker from Illinois, at least for the top prospects. Rather, it's ND.

Oh the things that could be. Him and DGB both playing out wide and Josey still running the ball this year.

Got another idea. How about they recruit Missouri. Disturbing pattern the last few years.

2015
Hentges
Ofodile

2014
Wallace
Johnson (already on 2 deep at LT at FSU)
Prewett (already on 2 deep at S at KSU)

2013
Elliott (more yards than any MU RB)

2012
Pipkens (not doing much, but playing at Michigan)
Rose (LB set freshman tackle record at Nebraska/out with injury this year-yeah, LB would be nice)
Neal (yards receiving at OU would be 2nd on Mizzou)
Chesson (yards receiving at Michigan would be 4th on MU)

Can't be harder to beat than UGA in Georgia.

We beat UGA for Brown and Ross. Don't remember the last guy we got out of IL that ND wanted.

I agree it's an area we should target, but it's tough sledding there as well.
