No more Hardee's Trophy, thank God

I'm happy about this development. I didn't like having the trophy named after a place that would give someone a burger wrapped in lettuce rather than a bun if they asked for it.
I think Palmetto Cup might get some backlash b/c of the horse race, but they can work something out.

Although this is extremely good news, and I think we have been setup for long-term success.. given how this season is going I hate to think that it'll spend its first year in Clem5on's trophy case.

Wish they'd do that Crescent fixture with the Palmetto statues. That would be the best trophy in all of college football.

A hundred times, this!! Would truly be shocking if they adopted it though...
It's such a neat idea and would be unique in all of college football. Of course we're going with a generic trophy with some toss off state resembling name.

Seriously ... we tried doing this in 2000 when Mike was still here but he was worried about alienating the money we were getting from Hardees at the time even though the only reason Hardees bought the rights when they did was because of Richardson and his Clemson connection.
We had the who Moon Tree Trophy designed, (when I say "we" I mean myself as part of a small group of other boosters who always found the "Hardee" thing to be a bit embarrassing.
Mike was right though, it wasn't a priority at the time - there were more pressing things. The man had a knack for putting everything into its proper perspective.
But it's time now.
