For arguments sake let's say that Alabama beats A&M and tennessee and Ole Miss beats tennessee and LSU.

Auburn travels to Oxford on 11/1. An auburn win means that alabama controls their own destiny again (for the most part) Do you root for auburn, or root for OM until the egg bowl (bama winning out and OM going 11-1 with loss to MSU also gets us to atlanta)
OM losing to auburn and winning out does us no good however.

Personally, I just don't think I can root for auburn, but I guess I'm going to try.

What are your thoughts?

Eta: for clarification, because I've thoroughly confused myself now, the best way for us to get to Atlanta short of being the only one loss team in the west is for OM only loss to come to MSU and MSU only loss coming to bama.

Doesn't OM need to lose twice before we'd control our own destiny? I get what you're saying about them losing to Miss St. at the end of the year, but I'd rather not have to wait that long.

I guess we will have to root for both sets of Tigers

A 3 way tie gets us in, the different scenarios are making my head hurt, but on the surface it seems getting a goose egg off OM and MSU record is a good thing.

Bama wins out and Ole Miss losing two is the best scenario. If a tie then highest rank goes i think.

Yeah. Now that Auburn isn't undefeated we won't have to worry about matching their east record anymore. We just have to hope that UF has a better record than UK.

Both OM and Miss St. play Vandy.
Both Bama and OM play UT.
Bama plays UF while Miss St. plays UK. We just have to hope that UT + UF > UK + Vandy and UT + UF > Vandy + UT

So, UF has to be > than UK because we know that, pending a major implosion, UF will be better than Vandy.

Being conservative, let's say...

Vandy wins zero SEC games,

UT pulls off one SEC win ( Vandy)

UF wins three SEC games (UT, UK, Vandy)

UK wins three SEC games (Vandy, USCe, and UT)

That would give our opponents 4 wins, Miss St.'s opponents 3 wins, and OM's opponents 1 win.

In other words, as long as Vandy continues to tank we are good.

You'd have to cheer for Auburn. I'm worried about us first and foremost, so if we need an Auburn win to help our cause, I'll get really drunk to help with the shame and hope they win.

The 3 way tie with Bama, Ole Miss and Miss St. puts Bama in the SECCG.

head to head is first but in a three wsy tie you go by division wins TIE so then you wind up at cross division game opponents winning percentage.

Ole. Miss plays Tennessee and Vandy and Bama plays Tennessee and UF.

Miss. St. Plays Kentucky and someone ( but Vandy will probably be 0-8 so Ole Miss. will get booted out of the 3 way discussion and then it reverts to head to head.

So we need to pull for Miss. St. in all games except Bama of course.

What EVER helps us is what I want to happen.

Yeah the only thing I forgot to say is that miss st must win out except for a loss to bama. They lose to UK and the three way tie is shot and it goes back to head to head with OM and they're headed to Atlanta. Kind of like last year where auburn and alabama were both 11-1 but auburn lost to LSU that lost more than one sec game.

I'd root for third term for Obama before I'd root for Auburn - unless they were playing ND for the MNC then I'd ...fall over dead.

I won't be cheering for Auburn in that game, I'll just be hoping Ole Miss loses to no team in particular.

So let me get this straight, you'd cheer against AU even if them winning was a good thing for Alabama?

I will be cheering very very loudly at all of Ole Miss' bad plays that allow AU to score/win....hard to cheer for AU for any reason.
