It kinda is. It's using obvious information from another internet source to out someone.

If they linked the twitter account to this site, sure. But you're talking about cross-referencing an external site. KS did not do that ( I don't think)

I'll take a ban if they give me one because it wouldn't be undeserved.

No matter what people might say about him or how they might feel about him it still doesn't make it alright to post personal info that he didn't volunteer, no matter how harmless the info or how publicly he made it available and no matter what the intent or effects may be.

I know this now and I knew it before I posted, I fricked up and had a lapse in good judgement so like I said...I'll take the ban.

As far as the other stuff about the suicidal comments, I said early on that the best case scenario was that he would return and ridicule me for taking his threat seriously...which he later did. That's fine. The same principle as above applies to suicide as well in that no matter how much people dislike him he's still a person and this is just the internet. Suicide is never ever a joke. I'm honestly glad that it wasn't a sincere threat, as to my feelings about him doing it to frick with people? Meh...typical ST, just glad he's ok.

Anyhow, in the future the mods may want to take a few things away from this:

1. Disallow photobucket (which I believe requires registration) from being used as an approved host and recommend anonymous uploads on hosts that allow it like Imgur.

2. Clearly outline rules on posting personal information both yours and others.

Common sense says "don't be an arse" and the messed up thing is that I saw that clearly before and after posting but not during...I had a questionable lapse. A clear rule may have prevented it. Probably not but maybe.

3. Make the rules clearly viewable while posting in the SECRant family of sub forums. Posters shouldn't have to navigate to TigerDroppings to see them.

4. Mods should do a better job at monitoring RAs. I first RA'd the thread three pages in if I recall correctly...it then spun on for like five more pages and several hours before being deleted. Timely moderation could have nipped it in the bud.

The RA system has become a joke. I don't know if they get too many to deal with or what, but there has to be a better system.

Suicide is not something to be joked about. The admins need to see it, and that thread, as well as this thread should be deleted.

This, but also all the (likely jokingly) "go kill yourself" posts need to stop too.

Wow bro, not sure a pasting a page from your diary was necessary to make a point. You're posting and looks like you are good to go.

I think you're in the clear. He broke the golden rule of anonymity on here. He has no one to blame but himself

As for the fake suicide threat...permaban IMO. The site has had a few real scares recently which were prevented thanks to a handful of quality posters. Throwing out fake threats will make posters not take the real ones seriously. ST and his alter(s) need to go

Sadly there are certain folks who advocate for him every single time he gets banned. So he's going to just keep coming back.

Im kind of up in the air on this one.

Just because one can gather information on someone easily, even through said posters own ineptitude, doenst mean it should be free to just post here.

There are a lot of things that get said here between folks. Sometimes things can get very heated but at the end of the day the basic premise of anonymity should be something we stick together on and protect.

Just because one can access the information easily doesnt mean it right to bring it here

Whether you like ST or not is not the point. Bringing personal information to this board without the posters consent is against the spirit and nature of this board.

I like KSGamecock, Im not advocating his banning but Im trying to provide an alternate view to those who feel like it should be free game on other personal info because you dont like someone, because they are not internet savy etc.

It kind of stinks.

He is at fault sure but that doesnt make it right to bring that information here.

It has no business here without the consent of the person. Period.

It was done to him because people dont like him which makes it even more sad.

Believe me, there are PLENTY of folks who have themselves opened up like that here. Plenty if people are paying attention.

Not how it went down at all.

I'm not saying it was right or anything, but it's not like folks who don't like ST (and there are plenty) were actively seeking out his personal info and posting it with ill intent.

More sad than what? That he's said enough things about people on this board that something like this eventually happened to him?

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes as far as I'm concerned. Like I said earlier, that may be shitty but I have no problem looking at it that way.

And it's my understanding that he's not banned. He's just choosing not to post here anymore.

Nah he had his sig up before and when the thread got deleted his sig text disappeared. Leads me to assume he's banned because of the timing of it all.

And Kilo, his first name was posted. That was about it. Matt.

How many people do you know named Matt? It was a friendly warning which KS apologized for immediately upon knowing he had a problem with it.

People don't like him because he insults everyone, constantly. Let's not overlook that. He wasn't bullied, honestly he was the bully and people responded.

Im not defending him. Just want to make that clear.

I just think glossing over outing folks personal stuff here because he is an arse isn't the proper response and sets a bad precedent.

Lets the mods handle him

Nobody's doing that. Hell, KSGamecock has gone way out of his way to apologize.

And far meaner things have happened in terms of finding a piece of IRL information, and using it against them.

Alahunter
Rex
Beachfinder
HoleinOnEr

Etc..

There may have been hoopla but there was none of this discussion. Because those people didn't threaten suicide. That's the only difference. And considering it was a bullshite ploy, I think we should ignore it and carry on as normal. Don't let his bullshite guilt trip work.
