Tempering rabid fans' expectations while simultaneously looking like he's backing his players. How political - man could run for governor and probably get the votes with shrewdness like that.

The interesting aspect of the clip is that it was totally unprovoked, and he just sort of got worked up all of a sudden. The rant was unrelated to the question that was asked.

For someone who preaches toughness and discipline he can be pretty thin skinned at times. For $7 million a year, he is going to have to deal with it because the expectations of the Bama fan base aren't going to change.

That program is simply declining. Saban's on the downwards slope of his career. They will still be competive though as long as he is there.

A reporter asked him if he was frustrated about the seniors making the mental errors.

This is either subliminal coach speak, or he's a hypocrite and a crybaby.

Any arse clown who hires Lane Kiffin should be expecting decline. There is a proven track record there.

Does Bama pay Kiffin more than they do say....Penn Wagers?

Sounded to me like he was trying to steer/deflect the conversation away from the topic at hand, which was shitty play.

As much as I love CNS being the coach at UA, I wished he would handle the press a little differently.

I saw someone on another board arguing that it's probably more fun to build a program than maintain one.

Saban's obviously well, well past building at this point and is on to maintaining. It's mind-boggling to me that a fanbase can be restless after such recent, amazing levels of success. I'd give a lot for an SEC title, let alone three BCS titles in four years.

He's one of the best ever. Period. I can't imagine being upset with him because of some minor slips that see his team only ranked 6 or 7 instead of 1 or 2.

He's gonna retire unexpectedly after this year, and Bama will grab Mullen out from under Florida.

We need Florida to get a coach our teams can actually beat.

I'm thinking Derek Dooley.
