I've just calmed down enough to come back here after Saturday's debacle. Now I will bitch and complain for a few moments so the healing process can begin.

1. Was Evan Stone (or whatever their porn guy's name is)the guest referee? That bitch went in dry on us. We had a chance up until the Sammy Coates play.

2. Nick Marshall has no concept of trajectory. I believe he would still have balls tipped at the line of scrimmage if the entire defensive line for our opponents averaged 4'9".

3. Why the hell did we take Roc out? He dominated on 3 straight runs and then we didn't see him again. Didn't Gus say he likes to go with the hot hand?

4. Why did we run QB draw plays on 3rd and 20+.... TWICE?!?!?

5. Why are we giving the ball to CAP up the middle when we are down 3 scores with 9 minutes to play?

6. When it became obvious that we would have to hurry and play aggressive passing offense late in the game, why didn't we turn it over to the QB we have on the sidelines that doesn't throw 6 feet over his receivers' heads?

7. In case you missed #1, frick those refs.

(End Melt)

1. Except for Coates PI, thought they called the game well.

2. It has nothing to do with QB understanding trajectory. If it's a quick pass, it's the lineman job to cut the Dlineman to get his hands down. It was just great plays on MSU dlinemen part. Even Peyton Manning gets balls batted at the line.

3. He's a freshman. He carries ball like a loaf of bread (see Ricardo Louis). Can't go to that well too often, but yes he should have played more along with more speed sweeps. What made inside running great last year along with Prosch was the threat of the speed sweeper having the ball. 3 way attack as oppose to 2 way attack with read option with CAP and Nick.

4. Playing field position game because odds of picking up 3rd and 20+ is slim and greater chance of a TO. D was playing well enough to get the ball back.

5. It's apart of who we are. It takes just as long to throw a pass

6. It's not who we are. Ricardo ruined our last chance trying to get extra yards but not protecting the ball.

7. good melt.

It was a very bad call. But it was just a minor set back

2. Nick Marshall has no concept of trajectory. I believe he would still have balls tipped at the line of scrimmage if the entire defensive line for our opponents averaged 4'9".

He has always thrown the ball on a line. Teams know that now.

3. Why the hell did we take Roc out? He dominated on 3 straight runs and then we didn't see him again. Didn't Gus say he likes to go with the hot hand?

Because he was very close to fumbling and he is a true freshman who typically fumble.

4. Why did we run QB draw plays on 3rd and 20+.... TWICE?!?!?

Because Kodi Burns is not here to run the wildcat

5. Why are we giving the ball to CAP up the middle when we are down 3 scores with 9 minutes to play?

Because our coach is Gus and he does that sometimes

6. When it became obvious that we would have to hurry and play aggressive passing offense late in the game, why didn't we turn it over to the QB we have on the sidelines that doesn't throw 6 feet over his receivers' heads?

7. In case you missed #1, frick those refs.

I'll allow your melt, even on this one.

But as for that VERY FIRST PASS that was tipped and intercepted? The deep out to the sideline? No QB in football uses "trajectory" or "touch" to throw that ball.

Lets say that pass was 15 yards downfield and NM was throwing it from the middle of the field. An American football field is 53 and a little bit yards wide. So one side of the triangle is 15, the other is 26.5 (figuring NM was standing in the middle of the field). That means that Nick had to throw that ball (the hypotenuse of the triangle) 30.5 yards in the air to put it in the receivers hand at the sideline.

That ball, throwing on the sideline angle, has to be thrown on a damn rope. Watch Cam throw it in the NFL. Rivers. Manning. There's no lob or loft on that throw when they make it cuz it has to get there quick and on a line or you allow any serviceable DB the time to undercut it and pick it.

The frick-up on that play was ALL Slade who can never fricking manage to ENGAGE his goddamn defender and keep his hands down.
