Nick Saban isn’t going to let a outside perception affect his team’s enjoyment of a win, especially an SEC road win.

At his Monday press conference, Saban was asked about mistakes in the 14-13 win at Arkansas, and he went into talking about how players supported each other and felt a sense of joy after the game. Jimbo Fisher said it earlier this season: You can’t let the pressure or expectations prevent you from enjoying a win.

Saban, unprompted, got upset when talking about the outside expectations and reactions to the win.

“We have to help each other overcome these things,” Saban said. “I was really pleased about, Blake (Sims) didn’t do the quarterback sneak right, but I really saw our players help him and support him. He made a mistake. That was good. I think we need that on our team. Some of that has been missing on our team. When Landon Collins intercepts the ball at the end of the game, I hadn’t seen that much emotion out of our team for a long time.

“Everybody’s got such a high expectation for what our team should be. I was just happy to see our players be happy about playing a game and winning. It really, if you want to know the truth about it, pisses me off when I talk to people that have this expectation like they’re disappointed that we only won the game 14-13 and the way we played. That’s frustrating. You want to talk about something that’s frustrating? That’s frustrating to me, for our players, who play with a lot of heart in the game.”

my favorite part was this:

I didn't see a lot of heart for most of that game Saturday.

I saw it from the defense and JK Scott. I'll just leave it at that

He's speaking to his team, not the fans or the media. He is just using the media to do it.

"Coach has our back, let's bust out arse for him"

Trust me, Saban wasn't pleased with the game anymore than I was.

You must have watch another game. That defense played their heart out.

Stop discrediting the entire team. It wasn't what we wanted, but we learned to fight and win a close game. We haven't won a close game (less than 10 point victory) in a while.

I hope this builds character and a "we will not die" attitude, which will be paramount to us winning later this season.

Agreed. He's done that his entire tenure here. He doesn't give a flying rat frick about the media, it's just another way for him to address the team.

Exactly. He is cultivating that "us against the world" environment and that could be huge for us.

I hope we develop a mean streak and some mental toughness and just start getting nasty out there. Too many quitters and naysayers in our fanbase.

Good for Nick. There is a time and place for everything. He knows what he's doing.

I don't always agree w/Saban butI agree with him on this one... I think our team played with a lot of heart, they just executed poorly.. I've said it before and I'll say it again, we're 5-1, ranked 7th in the country and are right in the thick of the playoff hunt... Now's the time to rally behind the team and support them even more when times are tough... People generally respond better with that approach instead of tearing them down...

Win/Win press conference.

Lets entitled fans know that they're having that entitled feeling and rallies his support for his players, taking up for them like that. Saban

frick yeah and it all starts with the special teams disasters. the most basic shite is giving us problems and its preventing the rest of the team from getting on track.

The emotion part stuck out to me. When was the last time we saw our team as excited as they were after Landon's interception? LSU 2012?
