These numbers ought to make any diehard UT fan or SEC fan feel good, especially considering we are doing this with an undersized DLine, particulary at DT, as well Derek Barnett at DE, who is the first true freshman to ever start for Tennessee on the defensive line:
• 16th in the country in total defense
• 19th in scoring
• 5th nationally on 3rd downs
• 13th in passing efficiency defense
• 6th in TFL
Barnett has already proven himself to be a monster DE as a true freshman. Just imagine what the this defense is going to look like with 5* DT Kahlil McKenzie and 5* Shy Tuttle next year.

The defense has been absolutely awesome. Especially how quickly they've come together and with some of the deficiencies that are still there. There are things to nitpick, but this group is 180 from a couple of years ago. The things that I like most are much better tackling and very few busted assignments.
Should be dominant next year, though losing AJ will hurt, he has been incredible. I understand there are good ones behind him, just hope it isn't a chemistry thing or something.

This team reminds me of ole miss a couple yrs ago. Defense started comming along, they were losing close games right at the end just like we are.. And they were recruiting good. Maybe we can turn it around like they have

Defense is doing very well this year. I had posted in another thread that its stacking up very nicely for the next couple years.
Next year they'll be very good and for 2016 championship caliber.
Get some serious talent at D line with a couple years experience and time in the weight room.
Current freshmen will be Jrs. TK, Berry, Bates, Sutton will be a Sr if he stays, Barnett. I could go on but you see where this is heading. Depth, talent and experience on all three levels of the defense. Line, linebackers, secondary.

Jeezus Christ. Next time someone wants to grade Jones:
Rocky Top Insider (@rockytopinsider)
That's truly insane if you think about it. 22% of Butch Jones' games at UT have been on the road vs. top-3 teams.
