One game (UF) is apparently an aberration, two is a trend...

...and six with these continued Chinese fire drills in the huddle with Blake looking like he got a play called in where he has to go over each skill player's assignments before getting ready to accept the ball is unacceptable. Nick was understandably hot for the majority of that game.
I thought we'd simplified things on offense? Am I stupid?
Don't answer that last question. Incredibly frustrating, all of my excitement after the Florida game has been drained by A-Dayish ineptitude since. We need to go back to basic smash mouth football and if our O-line cannot deliver, then put in the younger guys and get experience for next year.

I agree. However we are still in contention. Need another loss before I'm on board with this plan

What gets me is that against Florida, Sims was making really good throws....and it wasn't just to wide open receivers. He was throwing legit passes with accuracy and zip.
Since then, he's regressed to A-Day form. Is it his confidence? Is he injured? We have zero downfield passing threat. Sims isn't a threat to beat anyone with his legs and looks as though he can get rattled pretty easily....which makes me wonder why is he even out there. Is Coker that bad?
If we are going to continue playing Sims, we have to find a way to play to his strengths. If not, then either play Coker or prepare for a trip to the Outback Bowl.

Coker is still relatively new and Sims is a well liked player.
At this point I have a hard time believing Sims knows more about the PB than Coker, because Sims acts like he has 0 football IQ. But he still has chemistry and what not with the guys that Coker doesn't have. When they both played early, Coker was the more talented passer, but he didn't have the other things that Blake brought. At this point, Blake should not have a firm grasp on the job.

Well, I meant he had it. It has disappeared.
But at this point it won't matter. Saban likes sticking with his guys, Sims would have to toss a few INTs in a game to let Coker even get two drives of action.

I think the main problem is a sense of entitlement from some of our veteran players. I thought the finish to last season would fix it.
Where's the veteran leadership? We've seemed to always have an obvious vocal leader with each team, sans the 2010 squad. Coincidentally, this season looks a lot like that year.
From that point on, you could look just about anywhere and point out a glaring problem. I don't know what the fix would be. All I know is that the schedule doesn't let up one bit.
A&M next week will pose a giant problem for our defense, especially the secondary. Tennessee in Knoxville with the return of Kiffin will be a stiff challenge. I'm not even going to go into MSU, LSU and AU. I could truly see us going 1-4 in this stretch.
I'm a realist, so my opinion will not be very popular with the masses on here.

I'm with you, although I'd prefer to have some sense of hope that our offense will improve from week to week, but it really hasn't.
I was highly optimistic about our prospects for this season after the OM game, but yesterday's performance really shook my confidence. And i think it comes back to Sims as an offensive leader. I appreciate Blake's dedication in sticking with Bama when he could've gone the JUCO route, but at this point as a starter he has essentially given us a memorable home game with a terrible Florida team and a great STTDB gif.
We need more production from our QBs than that.

This happens when players feel they don't have to compete for their job anymore. I almost threw something at my t.v. when Christion Jones trotted out there as our returner after he cost us the last game.
Want to create hunger? Open up all of the competition. IMO the only players who deserve their job through this year:
-JK Scott
-Reggie Ragland
-Jarran Reed
-Amari Cooper
-Cam Robinson
Every other player should have to prove that they are the best man for the job. No more favoritism.

Blake Sims has good leadership. The problem is that he can't back it up on the field. The best leaders have to be excellent players.

I'm slightly more optimistic. I see us going 2-4 in this next stretch.

I think there is more to Blake's injury than has been let on. Saban is known for having players that push through injuries. Maybe Saban "encourages" them to play instead of replacing them with a less experienced player.

It's one thing playing with a broken had as a LB. It's another when you are a QB and you can't throw. If his shoulder is that bad, keep his arse on the bench.

Didn't AJ and McElroy have to play through shoulder injuries at some point.

One of the "insiders" on BOL said that Sims shoulder is fine. This guy was spewing all sorts of interesting stuff last night. Must have been drunk

AJ injured his throwing shoulder against MSU last year. He played through the injury, but his production and accuracy dropped. Maybe he injured it again during training camp, but I'm pretty sure the shoulder is why he hasn't suited up for Cincy this year.
