I had high hopes for MM but dammit the last 3 games are inexcusable. My question is his play this year is the worst MU has had since whom?

Worst in Pinkel era, my guess is since Jim Dougherty circa late 90's.

Mauk still has potential to be our best QB ever. Dude is a sophomore. If you're writing him off already with how AWFUL his O-line and receiving corps are, I can't help you.

Signed, most negative mizzou fan you'll meet.

Seriously, if you've watched the games...Mauk isn't blameless but he's NOT the problem. He's ALWAYS under pressure and nobody is open

He is the problem, at least the biggest one. Dude creates pressure that isn't there time and time again. Terribly inaccurate. No feel for the position. Good QBs make the players around him better, he makes them worse.

I could go on and on, but best QB in school history? Lay down the crack pipe my man.

Not best or worst. And he's definitely not our biggest problem. I think he's over coached right now. They are trying to mold him on the fly and he looks indecisive.

Mauk is gun-shy to throw after 3 steps back, then moves around until he has to make a throw across his body to a wide open safety. Shitty quarterbacking. Really shitty.
There's no way that the out of the last three games every receiver was covered. Those defenses were weak but he kept waiting. Everyone knew UGA had a weak secondary until today.
He looks terrible. At least I don't think Drew Lock feesl like he'll have to wait long to start.

@GabeDeArmond: Maty Mauk in #SEC play: 21-55, 229 yards, 0 touchdowns, 5 turnovers. Against Power 5 teams: 50-103, 560 yards, 2 touchdowns, 6 turnovers.

Look at the post above this one that is all the proof I need, Mauk is playing horrible right now. Sure he is young and the OLine is not playing well and the WR are not great BUT his last three games are worse then anything I have seen from a Mizzou QB since 1999 if you cannot see that then what can I say. Mauk has some positives, he throws a nice deep ball and he has a swagger, he also is good with his feet. I also really question the coaching he is getting. The play calls do not play to his strengths and we give up on the run way too soon. We also are horrible at calling or executing screens which will slow down a rush. Mauk's negatives have been talked about plenty already.

On the SEC Network wrap show they showed two examples of Mauk completely missing / overlooking wide open checkdowns to throw deep. Is it because he can't see them? Is it that he's a chronically hopeless gambler? Or that he can't hit the short routes when they're open anyway?

No matter, it's killing him and his team.

Teams are defending this offense like NFL defenses finally defended Mike Martz (successfully): give them the check down, dare them to run, and lay in wait on the deep stuff for turnovers.

Given Mauk's chronic short to intermediate inaccuracy issues, I'm afraid the jig is up.

Good points Mizz, Georgia was setting in a 3 deep all day and daring Mauk to throw under. Mauk just won't or can't do it. Look at the success on the slant to Hunt and the one he dropped. The short middle was wide open and he is bailing out running backwards instead of standing in the pocket and delivering the ball.

Three of the turnovers yesterday were 2 tipped well thrown passes and a ball knocked out while throwing when he stayed in the pocket.

And Dak threw 2 ints. He obviously sucks.

The one to Murphy was far from "well thrown"

Seriously question anybody who could watch the games and say Mauk isn't the problem.

I noted a couple of plays where every receiver was running fly route, it's just not all on Mauk to change the play, for several reasons.

The whole offense is playing like shite, but Maty is the biggest dose of fiber right now.

The bubble screen INT was tipped because it was on the outer edge of the receivers catch radius. It was inaccurate.

No one on this board wants Maty to succeed more than I do, but a body of work is starting to pile up with Mauk and this offense. And his short to intermediate accuracy and (apparent) vision issues are near the top of the list.

obviously it's the stupid players not listening to the brilliant coaching staff.

He's stopped running downfield, he needs to start creating plays with his legs instead of scrambling to throw. Honestly I feel like this was a coaching decision, not his.

The only coaches I see you complain about are Pinkel and Steckel. Obviously Pinkel has never shown he can have a good offense and the DC is responsible for the problems on offense.

I have posted about Henson's playcalling, Ricker's OL play, and Washington's WR play. You see the difference between bringing relevant information for discussion and just trolling?

Henson's play calling has been atrocious.

Mauk isn't the only problem, but I'm not sold that he's the answer either. Really, about the only thing I'm still shaking my head about in yesterday's game is not giving Printz the last series or 2. The game was out of hand at that point and it seems plain stupid not to give him some reps. I think GP is afraid of creating a QB controversy, but if a QB controversy is created also means winning games, I don't give a shite. I still harken back to the fact that Josey might never have burst on the scene if not for injuries. Makes me question GP's refusal to give another QB a chance in a game that is already out of hand.

That is not true. There were plenty of plays this week that he just didn't see the open receivers. I think he has really bad field vision. And what happened to the mobile qb that could deal with pressure? that is what I am most disappointed about so far. He is not the playmaker we thought he was.
