Keep in mind that Alabama is 4-3 in their last 7 games and LSU already has 2 losses in the SEC this year...including a loss to Mississippi State.

2 of the top 3 teams in the SEC West are Ole Miss and Mississippi State....and they are top 5 in the country....REALLY? REALLY?

4-3 in their last 7...Bama
lost first 2 SEC games...LSU
lost to Indiana....Missouri
lost 11 straight SEC...Arkansas
come on, really....Kentucky
will be starting walkon QB soon....Florida

There is no reason we cannot win out or at least go 10-2 with a loss to Auburn (regular season) and still bring home the SEC Championship....beyond that is out of the teams control.

WE GOT THIS!!!

PS - I know I sound like samsonseed'eeddeeeee'sonseedd and Firewind, but frick it....until we lose again, I am on the bandwagon SOUSAVISION FTW!!!

Sadly both those schools have more talent and depth than
us especially on defense,,,never thought that would ever be possible with all the built in advantages at UGA

Both Mississippi teams are going down this week.

They were on the cover of Sports Illustrated.

You can just forget about them now.

Exactly.

Nor does our perception of these teams....based on the past....have any relevance this year. I'm not sold on Ol Miss yet....but Arky, Miss St and Mizz are very good teams. I don't care how bad they may have sucked in previous years.

We used to say "USCe....really?" too...until they beat us 3 out of the last four games.

Id feel a lot better if Sony was healthy.

His versatility makes us a different team.

Well, you are basing the fact we won't win out "because we are UGA" which infers previous years as support for your argument.

Anyways, Missouri lost to a horrible Indiana team at home. Arkansas still winless in the SEC THIS year. Miss State has a win over a shitty LSU team (this year) and a Texas A&M team that has no wins over top 55 teams....

I'm sorry, but you're delusional f you think these teams are good.

Long way to go and UGA controls their own destiny with the best player in the country. We have our deep threats back. The linebackers are starting to make plays.....we are in position A

First post you've had that's made sense. MS schools are hosed.

No doubt there's some cause for optimism considering the lack of competition in the East. However, objectively I am well aware that Georgia is simply not a complete/championship level team especially on defense. Our Secondary is both young/inexperienced and depleted. We simply don't have the quality depth to hang with more complete teams. Think about it. All an astute opponent has to do is run fresh receivers in and out of the game running deep routes and our Secondary is going to be shot by the 4th quarter.

And while our front 7 are more solid, they are not as big as some of the OL we will face and are susceptible to being steamrolled by a power running game; see Arkansas. This was part of the problem that led to the loss to SC in spite of a +2 TO margin in our favor. SC had 9 more first downs than Georgia featuring a balanced attack with 271 yards passing and 176 rushing yards. We got very little pass rush so Thompson was able to sit back there and riddle our Secondary sprinkling in just enough running plays for decent yardage to keep the sticks moving. Bottom line: SC controlled the LOS with their big OL.

I expect very similar games with Missouri, Arkansas and Kentucky. Each of these games is absolutely winnable but I fully expect competitive contests.

If so they need to fire their coaching staff. Mississippi State is 76th in the nation in total defense and georgia is 27th.

LINK

Too many Georgia fans buy into the "We can't be any good" mantra some spread. In reality...we aren't that bad.

AND...if you take it one step further Georgia's defense is 31st when taken to yards per game and Mississippi State is 86th.

I think UGA can and should be very good but just saying the rest of the SEC is catching up to us and with our high attrition rate and some bad luck with injuries we simply don't have the proper amount of players to go 2 deep with many of the other schools in our conference.

I'd take MSU's d-line and secondary over ours in a second and just about any NFL scout would say the exact same thing.

Stupid to compare national stats at this point in the season IMO.

Possibly. But what translates into NFL and college are two different things. Tim Tebow is just one example. So, you can' really go by what a NFL scout says. I mean Tom Brady....by NFL standards was a sub par QB in college. Look where he was drafted. David Carr was a first overall pick, I believe.

However, halfway through the season Georgia's defense is better than Mississippi States. Have you seen state play? What about their defense looked impressive to you? Granted, Georgia's hasn't exactly looked great...but it's time to wuit going by eye tests, and go by results. I'll take a defense that looks bad but gets the job done over one that looks really good but gets whipped every game. I'm not arguing that our secondary is great...or even good for that matter. I AM arguing that we don't give Georgia enough credit.

Because we see them regularly we spot their deficiences easily. We see any certain team one time and they look invincible. Texas A&M and Oregon looked unbeatable earlier in the year. Now. They look human and very beatable.
