Every time MS State starts having any success I always hear that he is going to leave for another job. Penn State, Michigan, Florida, etc. I don't think he will leave. Over the past few years I have gotten to know Dan and Meg. I wouldn't say we are friends but we do speak occasionally as they have a place a few doors down from my parents place at Reynolds Plantation. Dan is good guy and actually funny as hell. He seems very content and I feel like he takes pride in building the program from the ground up. It's his baby and I really do not see him leaving. I will say this, the last time I saw him this summer I asked him if he had ever seen the website EliteDawgs. He shook his head and laughed. So bulldawg fans I really don't think you are in any harm of him leaving and that he is aware of EliteDawgs. Good luck Saturday.

Coaches don't tip their hats to randoms. UF is not interested though.

Eventually another program will throw more money at him and he will be torn between the huge paycheck and his "baby."

Like every single coach like him before him he will get paid.

I have a friend at work close to the State program and he's communicated a similar message about Dan potentially leaving for greener pastures. His message is, Starkville has the greenest cow pastures anywhere...he ain't leaving.

This - I have heard that he is on the shitty side of some important UF boosters AND many HS coached in the Sunshine state.

Don't know the back story, but my understanding is that he is a non starter for the Gators.

Or they would have brought him in instead of Boom

State has a super secret slush fund for holding on to winners.

You lost me here. When has this really happened? I mean success for a few games..but by the end of the season they usually end up the same bottom half SEC program they have ALWAYS been.

I know you're joking, but that actually has some validity. Boosters has stated that they refuse to let Dan leave because of competing offers. It remains to be seen if they were telling the truth though.

Mississippi State is not going to pay $3.5 million plus to keep him if he gets such an offer. It's that simple.

We just built a brand new $25 Million football facility, $75 Million Stadium expansion, and you think we're gonna let a coach leave for a 850k pay raise in his salary?

I don't see how anyone can be happy in Starkville. It is the worst of all the SEC towns. If another school wants Dan Mullen, he will go.

Yep, no offense to State, but I don't see anyone hanging around that shithole any longer than they had to. I don't care what he's telling Joe Bob down the road.

Jeez that is chump change. I would think UF or Michigan could pay $5million+ a year.

With the new SEC network deal, State is and will be flush with money. Paying Mullin what he wants to keep him around won't be a problem for them.
