The admins are slacking on my request to post on Florida board.
Has there already been previous threads with recommendations?
Bringing the gf and will be staying at shady motel. Other than that, looking for must sees and good pre gaming bars. Thanks in advance. Looking forward to this pillow fight

That's the absolute truth. Don't go sporting any open containers around Gainesville. By the way, you will be disappointed by the tailgating, it sucks.

Yes. Really best off putting anything you're drinking into a solo cup. They're dicks to outsiders and to Gator fans... just sorta dicks in general, to be honest.
I can't really give bar recommendations as I'm a "sidewalk fan" that grew up in a Gator family, but never attended the University. Never lived in Gainesville and any games we went to (a LOT growing up and still now), we always did our own tailgate. But I have been to The Copper Monkey and to The Swamp Restaurant (both on University across from the stadium) and both places were good. They'll get insanely crowded, though, especially on gameday, so just be forewarned.

Don't walk around with open containers, you will get a ticket. The visitors section is three rows from the sun. A lot of jackass fans if you are wearing opposing gear (at least there are for UT.)

It depends on what you are looking for. Unlike most schools we don't have a centralized area where most people can tailgate, there aren't very many open spaces on campus especially right around the stadium. There are large concentrations of tailgaters in different areas and then people line pretty much every street on campus. Based on what I have seen at other SEC schools we are just much more spread out.

There are nice picnic tables and grills on the banks of Lake Alice real close to stadium....be sure to wade around in the water and cool off....leave g/f on the bank though.

We are the only school with jackass fans.
Solo cup and not stumbling = no cops bothering you
I've only seen one fan accosted personally during all my game day ventures. It was a UF frat star being very rude to a UT fan. Several UF fans and yours truly pulled the frat star to the side and gave him the business and apologized to the UT fan on his drunk arse behalf.
You'll be fine. Drunk students at any school are complete dicks though. Nothing new.
