Really-all the hate for Starkville? I don't get it. Back in the day when the bars closed at midnight I might understand but that's not the case now. Yes, I went to State and enjoyed Starkville. My line of work also allowed me to enjoy game weekends at Bama, Missouri, South Carolina, Georgia, Notre Dame, and Oxford. One thing I noticed was that its pretty much the same at all those places. The night before you go out and party-meet with friends whatever. The next day you get up-party some more-tailgate, eat and go to the game. After the game, you go get something to eat, go to the after game parties on frat row or bars, get drunk, try to get lucky and pass out. All those things you can do in Starkville just as well as any other place...I know because I seen it!!! So what's the freaking deal?

Mostly people who've never been there or don't know how to have a good time & find good food & drink wherever they go.

I just remember you couldn't buy cold beer (out of the cooler) in the convenience stores on my only trip there (years ago.) Had to buy it hot.
Was mildly irritating. But good for ice sales.

Jebediah Starkville led a band of wagons from Maryland and headed south-westward with his partner Oxford Manhattan on a quest to find "New Sodom" after misinterpreting a passage of the Bible.
They later parted over political differences; Manhattan wanted to found a town where people could marry their own cousins, while Starkville wanted a town devoted to chastity, abstinence, and a flavorless mush he called "root-marm". Manhattan went on to found the rival town of Oxford.

When I went to Fayetteville the stadium held 41,000, Field was AstroTurf, Lou Holtz was the coach & they played in the SWC.
