What a ridiculous non-story. She graduated. She has her degree. If being with her family is so important to her, why not go home and be with her family?
Leaving the team at this point would be crippling. Okay, so it's just a game, and it shouldn't take precedence over people. But if this is true, then why make such a big deal about not playing the last year of eligibility after you've graduated?

But not only does the Family Hardship waiver apply. So does the Graduate Transfer waiver. Alabama does not offer the degree that she wants.

I kind of agree, but at the same time, seems like a ridiculous decision for Alabama to make. She clearly doesn't want to be there and this press has no upside.

I don't understand why some ADs make decisions like these from a PR standpoint. You know they will probably get torched by talking heads all week and eventually relent and change their decision

The Alabama coach should probably just release the scholarship commitment at this point if that article accurately describes the situation.

Nobody is forcing her to stay. They are simply saying that if she wants to go to graduate school at Seton Hall, she does not play her last year of eligibility. Sorry if not sorry. This isn't like she's being victimized. Go home, stay with your family, play next year at Seton if you want.

Maybe ESPN needs to talk about this daily and something will be done by the AD. Seems to be the route to go in order for something to be done now a days.

Agree with this. I wouldn't have made the same decision, but I'm not on the bandwagon with the press looking for a victim here. There are boundaries to your choices. You make one, you lose another. And the reason she can't do what Jacob Coker did is because she already transferred once. If this was the first time, Alabama would have no say in it.

The only people defending this are Alabama fans. I would be absolutely embarrassed if Kentucky did something like this, and we have one of the best teams in the country. Alabama women's basketball is bad, with or without Simmons.

Really it's just that. She shouldn't have to make a choice if there are waivers there to support her being able to play while being there with her family.
For all the dumb waivers that get granted for other players who are pretty clearly abusing the system, it's a bit pitiful that the NCAA would deny this one and not step in for more than just granting a year of eligibility. But that's the NCAA for you.

IF Alabama doesn't allow her to play at Seton Hall then she won't get an athletic scholarship to cover her tuition there.. Is that an issue being ignored?
