Current standings:

Missouri 1-0

UGA 2-1
UF 2-1 (owns tiebreaker over kentucky)
UK 2-1

These are the only ones worth noting, since SC already has 3 losses and still plays auburn.

Kentucky has been a pleasant surprise, but they are already a game behind the 8ball due to losing to UF, plus still has LSU, MSU, Missouri, UGA, and UT. I think it's safe to say they aren't a factor. That leaves 3. Florida is barely hanging on, and have now turned to a freshman QB that looks pretty shaky. They have a stretch of LSU, Missouri, and UGA coming up. I think we can rule them out of the east.

So that leaves us and missouri. We have arkansas, uf, uk, and auburn left. They have vandy, florida, kentucky, A&M, tennessee, and arkansas.

If Missouri wins, they will be basically 3 games ahead of us in the race. Not that that would end it mathematically, but they would pretty much be in as good a shape as possible. If we win, we own the tiebreaker and the top spot. Looking at missouri's schedule, and based on what they've done so far, it would not be a stretch for them to lose to arkansas or aTm, meaning we have a cushion for even if we lose to auburn.

If we are good enough to go to missouri and win, I don't see us losing again heading into auburn. This weekend is an absolute must win for us.

Excellent write up. I would be willing to say that Mason only play half of the game at most - maybe a quarter.

barring injury, there is no way at all that is the case.

Ramsey will get another series, I'd guess the 3rd of the game since that's what Richt likes to do, but no way he plays an entire half. This game is too important to throw in a freshman with no reps in a major game before.

i think they are going to progress toward splitting the duties though....Brice will get more and more touches as the season goes....i really think he will see significant time in Jacksonville...

If we are going to play a second QB. Why don't we play Bauta he adds another dimension with his ability to run and he can make the quick hitting throws. And he can hand the ball off to Gurley or run the zone read. Let's either stay with Mason or try Bauta because I know Ramsey didn't throw it that often he just didn't look that strong

I don't know...it's a delicate situation. Mason showed saturday that he is capable of throwing downfield. The long TD to conley was beautiful, and he threw a great ball down the sideline that conley dropped as well. He also went long to Mitchell on his first play in the game.

He's not gonna throw for 400 yards, but at least he is consistent. Teh thought of Ramsey getting meaningful snaps with the east on the line just scares the hell out of me. He shows incredible potential, but he's also liable to not know what the hell's going on too.

Agreed.

Going to be a tough October.

IF (and that's a big IF) we get through October then the AU game will be EPIC.

Based on the way we've played this year as well as our past history of inconsistency, I have my reservations about this.

Not saying you're wrong, but I can see us losing against Arkansas and/or Florida.

Agree-must win for this team to be at all relevant. It doesn't matter how we win as long as we do. Mason can't throw picks and MM needs to be horizontal.

WLOCP will be a spoiler game.

Bauta was in for one play against Vandy and got tackled for a loss...probably because their D knew what he would likely do as soon as he came in...Bauta is behind Ramsey on the chart for a reason...he isn't as talented...

I think he is more ready than people like us might think he is...the kid has been groomed since he was in 10th grade to be the guy at UGA....he knows what to do...

I know you say this a lot becuase of your south georgia ties, but if he has been groomed for that long and was that ready he'd already be starting.

He's currently the backup for a reason.

My thoughts exactly. I get that the kid has tremendous upside, but he doesn't have the ball control right now to be a consistent playmaker. Really reminds me of Stafford his freshman year. Yeah, Mason isn't spectacular either but keep in mind he has shown the ability to make plays and has shown he can win on the road (GT last year). I also think that TD pass to Conley was a huge relief to him to finally throw a long one in the end zone. I think he continues to improve as JSW and MM get in the mix more. I don't think giving Ramsey more than a series (2 at the absolute most) is a good idea unless Mason completely implodes.

People also tend to think of our QBs like Stafford and Murray in their upperclassman form. The first few games of stafford's career were horrendous. When JT got hurt against SC in columbia, we had to play stafford. We won 18-0 so you might think he did well, but he threw for 0 TDs, 3 INT, and like 200 yards. It wasn't until he got 4 or 5 starts under his belt he started to "get it", which wasn't until mid November.

We all know Ramsey has more upside/potential than Mason, but I mean we're 4-1, ranked 10th, and can make a huge push for the division saturday. We don't need to throw a guy out there that doesnt' give us the best chance to win. Nothing hurts you more on the road than turnovers, and I think Ramsey is more likely to do that than Mason.

cause CMR is being loyal to HM...that is the main reason and we know it...but if shite hit the fan, he is ready to come in and do the job...of that I have no doubt...and he is better than Bauta so that is why he is #2...

im not trying to get in a pissing contest with you WGD cause I got tons of respect for you, just stating my thoughts on the situation

ETA:

BTW, I am not calling for HM to be benched by any means, but I think that CMR and CMB are looking at what they can do with ALL of their guys to get the team to Atlanta in DEC...and if that means playing Bauta for a wrinkle and throwing the true gunslinger in there some if not a great deal, that is what they will do..CMR has pretty much said that...

May have to disagree with you on that. Have you seen the ruptured ducks that HM throws? Admittadely, I haven't seen BR enough to know if he is a master telegrapher as HM is, so I can't make that call.

I don't know about that..I'd say the coaches who watch them in practice everyday feel like HM gives us the better chance to win. We've shown in the past we'll play backups.

this isn't a pissing match, we're just talking. I just don't think ramsey is ready yet. If we pull a 2006 and lose the next 3 games, then I have no doubt we'll see Ramsey start the rest of the season. Just as of right NOW there's too much on the line to throw him out there. Keep in mind his only game snaps of his career are against a hapless Troy team and a terrible vandy team. Neither on the road.
