I think it does make Gurley a better Heisman candidate.

Anyone think he would've run for over 160 yards if Michel had been healthy?

I'm guessing not.

We will need everything we can get from Gurley against Missouri. Even more without Michel. I wish to heck we had Michel. But the more carries Gurley gets the more chance he's in New York at the end of the season hoisting the big trophy.

Just looking on the bright side.

While I agree that it'll result in Gurley getting more carries; his numbers are gonna be ridiculous either way and I think he wins the Heisman with his highlight plays rather than his big stats. And we seem to be going with him as the battering ram in the 4th after resting him in the 3rd.

Michel added a great change of pace (even though he can get the tough yards too) and I think gave us more options on the plays Gurley wasn't going to be in on.

long story short: I really really wish we had Michel out there running too and don't particularly think it'd affect Gurley's Heisman chances IMO

I think it's BARELY gives Gurley more of an advantage in the Heisman race. It is a pretty sizable disadvantage for Georgia competitively though.

I love Chubb, everyone loves Chubb, he's the Chubbdozer. But, IMO, Michel had separated himself with his versatility. Chubb is a battering ram as you said. He's shown decent hands too. But Michel provided a great receiving threat, it seems a better understanding of the offense, IMO better vision, and was more of a threat.

With Michel we obviously had more backs but he had his own little offensive wrinkles he provided like screens, other routes, and still could run any way you needed him. With Chubb it's like following a Mack Truck with a Bulldozer. He is a great RB but I feel like when he's in the DC has less to stress about in terms of his uses.

Granted, this is all minute things and I have ended up turning this into Michel vs Chubb so I'll wrap it all up by saying that what infinitesimal advantage Gurley has in the Heisman race is completely negated by the loss on our offense.

It's entirely possible. But now we have the first game without Michel, and I kind of think it proved my point a bit.

I understand it's a debatable point, though, so ... y'know, the new thread.
