The GF and I are riding over on an Auburn club charter bus this coming Saturday. No one I know really has much experience with Starkville (outside of just riding over to watch the game), so I thought I would ask for dining/drinking recommendations here. Any grinders that can help a barner out?

Ironically, the last time we were there we got drunk and went around stealing car magnets and sticking them on the kid quarter ride things at different stores for lack of shite to do. Granted this was back in 98 or something, but Starkville was easily the worst college town I have ever been to at that point and since. It might have gotten much more fun but it was awful at the time.

It isn't even the same town it was in 98. Completely different.

that's why I made sure I made that note about it being a long time ago when I went.

REading that thread made me think, what is it with UGA fans starting fights in the pisser? My 60 yr old FIL had a group of youngin's try to start a fight with him in the pisser when we played them in the SECCG a while back.

Leaving after the game or Sunday?

Go to Dave's Dark Horse Tavern and eat some good food. Get you a few drinks in you and then head to Stagger In to finish your night of misery. A lot of opinions will vary in Starkville on where to go. Another cool place to attend is Strombolis. I personally don't care for it, but everyone else does so it must be good.

Think of a giant strip mall, peppered with storage units. - How a Ole Miss fan described Starkvegas to me.

Go to the Veranda. Great food and good atmosphere.

Best places to eat: Veranda, Restaurant Tyler, Little Dooey. For drinking, stick to Cotton District or Main Street (my suggestion would be Bin 612). Unlike one of the other suggestions, I'd discourage Dave's Darkhorse as I'd hate for you to judge us based on the location and the amount of hippies that will be in there.

Let me just say this: It's what you make it. Starkville can be very fun if you make the effort to do shite. If not, well you probably just aren't a very fun person. If someone is incapable of having fun in an SEC college town, then the town isn't the damn problem

I'm an Alabama fan and can certainly say that Starkville has some very nice places to eat.

Veranda
3 Little Pigs BBQ
Umi
Restaurant Tyler
Oby's
Harvey's
Sushi Martini

I have been there twice. I have swore I would never go back. I am standing on that decision.

The only other place I have sworn off is Morgantown. I wont even drive close to that shite hole
