In an effort to keep the recruiting thread about recruiting (even though I don't usually post in there, it's good info), I figured I would help take the fight "outside".

I went to UGA at Gwinnett when they had the program (do they still have that?), so I transferred to "UGA" but didn't go to the Athens campus. My diploma say UGA on it, so that's all I care about, but I've always been a bit envious of the rest of my family who cared about their grades more than me in highschool and went to Athens for their undergrads.

Anyone here think a "true UGA fan" is one that is going to or went to UGA while someone who didn't go there isn't a real fan?

That is idiotic. I feel sorry for anyone pathetic enough to say something like this as it likely means they are an unhappy person to begin with as it is clear they want to put someone else down.

I went to UGA and have a lot of pride in the school itself moreso than the football team. I am proud of that but at the end of the day it is just a school I attended and I don't think I'm better than anyone else because of it.

I didn't attend UGA, actually I didn't graduate from any college or university ... although I did attend VSU for about a year, then realized that college just wasn't for me. But I'm just as big and as true a Georgia Bulldog fan as anyone! It's not where you attended school ... it's where your passion lies that makes you a fan or not.

frick no... I have my BS & MS from UGA but some of the best, most dedicated fans I know went to school elsewhere or not at all. Most I know contribute as much or more than I do, & those not fortunate enough to be able to give are still some of the most passionate fans I know...

I've never posted in the Recruiting Thread. SOunds like a bunch of assholes..........

I have a degree from UGA, that I've never once used. I had a blast there, but part of me is actually embarrassed that I fell for the scam and believed that a college degree was even necessary.

Regardless. Imo, one of the best things about UGA football....and SEC as a whole, is that it's a state-wide loyalty and Pride kind of thing. How UGA football is a passion and a bond for most everyone in the state. And in all Southern states. Whether they wasted their time and money on a bullshite degree or not.

One of my fondest memories is being 17 and went to a party in athens, got lost walking back to my buddys apartment and ended up too drunk to walk anymore via 4-5 keg stands and a fifth of jager so i guess i sat down. Next the lawn sprinklers come on around 5am and wake me up in a very well manicured yard. Good times in athens.

No. Most of the citizens of the state of Georgia are loyal UGA fans and only a fraction of them actually attended the University of Georgia. I happen to be one of the lucky ones. It was a lot easier to get into UGA back which was fortunate because my high school grades were only about a mid-B average and my SAT scores reflected my underachievement.

My grandfather never attended college in his life ... actually never made it pass 5th grade. He grew up in a different time than us ... the Depression ... when an able-bodied worker in the home was more valuable than a kid going to school. It was through him, and my father (Also didn't attend UGA ... joined the Air Force right out of HS ... retired from the AF)that I got my love for the Georgia Bulldogs. Some of my fondest memories as a boy was going over to Grandpa's house on Saturdays to either watch the Bulldogs play on TV ... if the game was being telecast by one of the three channels you could pick up at the time, or listen to Larry Munson call the game on the radio. My Grandfather was probably the biggest Dawg fan I ever knew.

Same here Dave... My SAT scores that got me in back in '73 (as a legacy) might get me into West Georgia Technical School over in Waco today...

Here's some more ammo to use against these souless fiends in the recruiting thread.....

I've been Georgia fan my whole life. So, Technically, I was a "sidewalk fan" for the majority of it. Since I've had a degree from UGA for less than half my life......

ARe you following me here?

I used to watch games on saturday as a kid with my sidewalk fan family wearing full pads, helmet, and a #34 jersey. Would one of these assholes call that not being a "real fan"??

Why do these assholes in the recruiting thread hate children? This sucks.
