Random idea I'm sure Saban/Kiffin haven't even talked about: Shovel Option

Was thinking earlier that we'll probably be doing a couple of different things to throw Ole Miss off and get Coop the ball.

Shotgun, Howard wide to the left, White/Jones/anyone other than Coop wide to the right, Coop in the slot to the right, Vogler or Fowler at TE.

Before the snap, motion Coop, and then snap at the time time to set up a Shovel option. If it is there, shovel it to Coop. If it isn't, run a speed option with Sims and whatever back is in the game...though Drake may fumble it.

Seems like a basic enough idea, and Ole Miss wouldn't be expecting it. You obviously don't have to run it that way. Could run it with Fowler or Howard at H-Back and have one of them as the shovel man.

Just hoping we do something to ensure Coop gets the ball a lot, because they'll definitely try and eliminate Coop.

Also wouldn't mind seeing us come out on a drive with Coop at RB. Maybe not hand it to him up the middle (that would be risky), but we could toss it to him, throw it to him out of the backfield, etc. Do everything possible to prevent them from covering him up.

We'll find ways to get Cooper the ball. If Ole Miss chooses to 'eliminate' Cooper (double/triple team) then they are going to get torched elsewhere.

In Lane I trust

Cooper is really good with the football in his hands, but his real talent is getting open and coming down with the ball in traffic. Drake, Henry, Yeldon are just as good if not better at picking up yards once they have the ball...the type of play you are talking about gets Cooper the ball in the backfield...while certainly not a bad idea we have 3 other guys that are just as capable of picking up chunk yardage from the backfield

I think OM's biggest strength in their secondary is going to be their downfall against Alabama. They like to deliver big hits and they like to get a jump on the ball..basically it's an agressive secondary. Cooper and White can fly, and they are filthy on double move routes...there will be a long wide open touchdown or two because of this. They can talk about their safeties all they want, but by the 4th quarter those guys are going to have to play in the box. I expect OM to limit the run game in the first half, but people don't like tackling Henry and Yeldon when the 4th quarter rolls around. We'll start gashing them on the ground, they'll walk the safeties up, and Cooper isn't going to be stopped in a 1-on-1 matchup. He will physically dominate Golson

Does Golson have a hamstring injury too? Seems I heard this from one of the talking heads at the 4 letter network.

It'll be interesting to see how OM lines up when Drake is in the slot or out wide.

I also think OJ may finally catch some passes in this game because he too can create a mismatch.

I would love to see some OJ doubt Kiffin is overlooking him. Bet we see some new plays.
