Many tend to overlook the LSU/Auburn series when mentioning notable games & conference rivalries. Weird shite has occurred through our series & many great games have been witnessed. I listed some notable games below & am sure I missed some other great ones.

Over 9 years, Les Miles is 7-2 v. Auburn. Looking ready for a helleva game & hopefully make it 8-2.

Notable Games

1988 The Earthquake Game
LSU QB Tom Hodson threw it to Eddie Fuller on 4th and 10 with 1:41 left remaining in the game. LSU beat No. 4 Auburn in Tiger Stadium 7-6. The crowds response was so loud that it registered as an earthquake on a seismograph in our Geoscience Complex.

1994 Fourth Quarter Debacle
Auburn was on a 14-game winning streak and ranked No. 11 when LSU traveled to Auburn in 1994. LSU led 23–9 entering the fourth quarter. LSU QB Jamie Howard threw five fourth quarter interceptions - three returned for touchdowns - as Auburn extended their winning streak to 15 with a 30–26 win.

1995 "The Whistle Game"
LSU re-introduced their white jerseys for a home game for the first time in 15 years, inspiring the team to a 12–6 victory over No. 5 Auburn. Trailing 10-3 with seven seconds left in the first quarter, Auburn was backed up to its own three-yard line. Standing in the end zone to receive the snap, quarterback Patrick Nix thought he heard a blown whistle and stopped play. LSU safety James Gillyard continued on and sacked Nix for a safety.

1996 "The Barn Burner"
No. 21 LSU defeated No. 13 Auburn 19-15 while Auburn's Sports Arena, also called "the Barn," burned across the street from Jordan Hare Stadium. The game was never delayed, and the Auburn public address announcer continually advised fans not to worry: "the stadium wasn't on fire; the flames were outside the stadium." Because of the fire and the thrilling finish, the game became known as the "Barn Burner".

1999 "The Cigar Game"
On coach Tuberville's birthday, Auburn beat LSU 41–7 during a rare day game in Baton Rouge. In celebration, Auburn players and coaches smoked cigars on the field at Tiger Stadium, much to the chagrin of LSU players and fans. Auburn has not won in Baton Rouge since, losing every game by an average margin of 17 points.

2004
Defending national champion and No. 4 LSU visited Auburn just days after Hurricane Ivan. Auburn tied the game with 1:14 left when Jason Campbell threw a 16-yard TD pass to Courtney Taylor. Auburn would go on to win the SEC Championship, finish 13–0 and No. 2 in the final AP poll.

2005: Five Missed Field Goals
After kicking a game winning extra point against LSU in the previous year's contest, No. 16 Auburn's kicker infamously missed five field goals during this match which helped No. 5 LSU secure their 20-17 win.

2006
The two Tigers met in Auburn, with their highest head-to-head ranking ever. Both teams were early season national title contenders. In the final moments, playing with no timeouts left, JaMarcus Russell threw short of the end-zone to Craig Davis and Brock delivered a hit on the four yard-line to seal the Auburn victory.

Questionable calls led LSU to file an SEC complaint against the officiating crew. The media focused primarily upon an interference call being waved off during LSU's next-to-last drive as the ball was ruled to be uncatchable, but the complaint addressed several calls and the crew's officiating consistency.

2007
LSU QB Flynn found WR Byrd for a last-second touchdown pass to give No. 5 LSU a 30-24 win against No. 18 Auburn. This win proved vital as LSU went on to win the BCS under Coach Les Miles.

2010
Cam Newton took a firm lead in the 2010 Heisman Trophy race when he beat No.5 LSU 24-17. The game was tied at 17 late in the fourth quarter, when Auburn tailback McCalebb ran 70 yards for the go-ahead score with 5:05 left.

2013
LSU defeated Auburn 35-21. Stiff dew

Good read man.

I would add the 2001 game, that was postponed because of 9/11 and became the de facto SEC West Championship.

Auburn stomped on the tiger eye at midfield before the game and got a 15-yard penalty, we onsided the opening kick and scored.

I'm pretty sure that was the year of Damon Duval vs the band

27-20 and Les has a 7-2 record...damn it was pretty even.

Time for Gus to get the record a little more managable.

This was THE game on LSU's schedule for much of the 2000s for me. LSU/AU games have routinely been ultra competitive and always seem to have some weird storyline as well.

The games from 04-07 were all incredibly intense.

The play was actually called back due to a hold on LSU. Then we ran the exact same play to score on the next play.

This was called the "Bring Back the Magic Game" as it marked our return to white jerseys at home.

Jumping on the back of a player penalty never called before...and never called since. Complete BS.

That rule went into effect that offseason...and was taken out shortly there after.

Fun Fact: Nick saban was on the rules committee and approved that rule.

Kenny irons also ran for 200+ after calling it walking off the bus to the espn cameras. Vaughn missed 5 fgs but LSU dropped 2 td passes as well. One to bowe and another to doucet in OT

It is interesting that LSU has played A&M more than they have played Auburn.

Skylar Green also had a punt return for a TD. That was a crazy game.

Yes, that would have made the score 7-0 instead of 3-0. In that game, it would've made a big difference. But the point is that the call so many refer to wasn't even the most egregious. But there were bad calls during the entire game.

But then LSU has had the benefits of calls in other games, so it balances out.

But make no mistake, "Auburn got away with one there."
