Saturday's game between A&M and State is only the second time in history that two top 15 teams square off in Davis Wade Stadium.

What was the other one?

Also, after State beats A&M - if Auburn can withstand the dew it will be the first ever meeting of two top 10 teams.

1994 - #4 Bud Light Lime vs. #9 Tom Cruise

Cruise won.

My guess was 2000 vs. Auburn, but State was #20 and Auburn was #15.

Just looked it up. We had 3 losses going into the Arkansas game so that wasn't it. Arkansas probably was though as they only had one loss going into our game. We finished the season with back to back losses to eventual NC UT in the SECCG and then Texas curb stomped us in the Cotton Bowl.

This would've been my guess... we had a long day in Starkville... sherrill's state teams had an edge to them that they've lacked ever since.

Yup. AU was ranked #7, MSU was ranked #13

MSU lost and then lost the last 3 games and finished 6-5.

I remember that year. Felker's first I believe.

Let's just say those State teams under Sherrill had a certain testicular fortitude that they lack now.
