He has like twice the catches and yards of the next receiver on the team. I keep having visions of Tyrone Prothro and what happened when he went down. I know Nick Saban is not Mike Shula and this year's O has more weapons, but still.

Nope. White has caught 6 passes in both games he has played in. The reason his total isn't already approaching 30 is because he sat out two games.

If White continues to get injured, we still have OJ. I know we haven't thrown to him, but we also haven't had to.

I see your point though. Coop is getting a lot of work. But honestly, he should be. If I was an OC with Coop on my team I'd get him the ball 10-15 times a game.

No. As ABDIW mentioned, White has been a consistent threat all season as well. Cooper has just been so good and so wide open this year, that there simply isn't a reason to not target him. I think if we lost him, our offense would take a hit, but we would still be pretty effective.

I am very interested to see Dominick Jackson at RG will affect our inside running game.

I know what you're saying, but this burns me up.

I agree, I think we should be lining him up all over and getting him 5+ catches a game too. But then the argument to that is that touches have to come off Coop for that to happen, and at this point I think Coop > OJ so I'd rather Coop get those touches.

I think next year with us losing our top three WRs, OJ will have a huuuuuuge year, so long as Kiffin stays. We'll bring back some guys who play a lot this year (Black, Sims) and guys who will play sparingly this year (Stewart, Foster), and even add the top WR in Ridley. But I think Howard will be the one getting all the looks like Coop is now. Line him up out wide and throw him screens, throw it to him down the seam, crosses, etc.

I don't see see Christian Jones as being one of our top three receivers for much longer. He has been too inconsistent and dropped too many passes IMO. I think it is a matter of time before Ardarius Stewart passes him.

While I agree, no way Saban pulls him. It isn't who Saban is. Plus Jones experience with blocking has helped so many of those screens and outside runs be successful.

Also, I feel like Stewart hasn't played as much the past two games as he did the first two. Maybe he did.

Either way, hope Coker and the backup WRs get a lot of passing reps in blowouts. Though with the way the West is stacking up, we may only have 1 or 2 blowouts left.

I doubt Stewart passes Jones without injury. I wouldn't be upset about it, but I just think Jones has too much experience and is too good of a blocker for him to be replaced in his senior year. But if he drops a few more easy catches I could see him splitting more time with black and/or Stewart, although I would expect Jones to continue to start.

As for Coop, I think the Prothro comparison is valid and a little bit scary to think about. Pro was our number one option that year and he would've made a run at the heisman if he could've stayed healthy. He was the top option at every receiver spot and he ran the ball out of the backfield. We did actually have a ton of offensive talent on that team but we failed to use it. The backfield had Darby, Leron, and Tim Castille; that's 3 nfl backs which is what most fans think we have on this team. But I would hope every person on Saban's staff is smarter than Dave Rader.

Chris Black. If Cooper goes down, expect him and White to carry the load.

No. It would be foolish not to get him the ball as much as we possibly can. He's the best player in college football. Feed the beast.

Cooper is really really good so he's going to get the ball a lot every game. Why wouldn't you want him to get 10-15 touches a game?

Jones is our best perimeter blocked and it isn't remotely close.

Coop also doesn't take many hits. Even on screens sometimes he gets out of bounds or into the endzone with little to no contact. Also, he is so fricking open sometimes its unreal.

He does however run inside routes at times, I think he has enough presence to know when the big hit is coming though. His field presence is a gift from god.

I think Kiffin believes in putting the ball in the hands of his most dangerous players as much as possible.

I dont think he can hold up for 15 games at his current level so IMO he has more value commanding double teams and getting 5-7 touches a game all year than he does getting 10-12 touches a game for 7 games, but I see Kiffin riding him until the wheels fall off.

No, just taking advantage of a great WR. If someone does shut down Cooper, that'll just open up the run game and White. HIghly doubt anyone will shut down Cooper, he might just have a bad game and drop some passes.

i have 2 fears with targeting coop so much. when we come up against that team that can slow him down, yes it can happen. how will we respond? and, how is this going to hurt us on the recruiting trail. every recruiter will tell the top notch receivers that, hey if you aint the main guy, you dont get the ball at bama.

i posted this in the r falkins thread before i seen this thread. so i c&p'd here.
