Is it genetic or a life style choice?

Is it bad or is it beautiful?

Genetics plays into it, but lifestyle choices are a bigger factor, IMO.

It's horrible. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I can't imagine a scenario where I'd find an obese woman attractive. At least physically. I have an obese friend and she's pretty rad otherwise.

Lifestyle. Blaming it on anything else is a cop out.

Bad, aesthetically and otherwise.

It's also a drain on the 'Merican taxpayer. We pay for people to stuff themselves on garbage, and pay for them to be on disability for obesity and related diseases and conditions that come with it, and pay for their health care.

I'd say 95% of overweight people are that way from being lazy and not eating.

I'm not in the best shape but it better shape than most my age and I tend to watch what I eat. I could stand to lose about 5-10lbs but that would be about it. I've always been active growing up playing most every sport and was outside most of the time.

My older brother is way overweight (like 100+ lbs). He's never been athletic and never been all that active and spent most of his time indoors. Essentially we are polar opposites. Now his wife and both kids are following in his footsteps and are all overweight and it absolutely kills me.

It starts with parents. Lazy parents who don't want to cook a healthy meal for their children so they stop at a fast food place.

Then, that becomes normal to the child. They grow older, fatter, and lazier. More and more excuses.

Soon you're laying in a hospital bed in your own home because you aren't physically strong enough to stand on your own feet anymore. But you don't stop eating. Now your family and friends watch you slowly kill yourself.

Obese people aren't real people. And anyone who defends fat people are a problem, not a solution. Just spend twenty minutes on /r/fatlogic and see some of the stupid things fatties say. It's ridiculous.

Blows my mind. I shake my head every time I see a family of fatties leaving a [insert buffet restaurant name].

Whatever happened to self-awareness and pride in appearance?

Not always. My brother and I are the perfect example that it is not always parents. Now if you look at my kids vs my brothers then you can help to build that theory but it isn't always the case. Lazy parents usually produce lazy kids but not always.

Neither of my parents were overweight, yet my brother is and now his kids are.

Could be both. Mrs. Tantal started blowing up like a toad 2 years ago. Come to find out, her thyroid had quit. Thyroid meds, a good diet, and working out have caused her to drop about 65% of her total goal in just 12 weeks.

Literally every single obese person I've ever known talks about food all the time, gets WAY too excited when you mention where you're going for lunch, and does absolutely zero exercise.

Lifestyle all the fricking way. I used to believe that a significant amount of genetic but not any more. My wife and I were at Chik-Fil-A one day and we literally found one half-way skinny person out of like 30 something. We are a nation of fat-arse lazy fricks and I no longer feel sorry for fatasses. Instead they piss me off.

There are simple things you can do to avoid looking like this:

I am always proud of our pathetically PC country when it comes to obesity, in terms of common belief.

I think it's always going to be unpopular. At the end of the day it represents a lack of self control prob stemming from a lack of personal image or respect... but that's just like, my opinion... man.
