Let's talk about this Ole Miss game

I've got a few things I'd like to key on.
- Right Guard. If Leon Brown starts, I think we're in trouble. Nkemdiche will line up on him all day long. And the crowd noise will really hurt things on the OL against a tough front.
- Blake Sims has never started a road game. Oxford would be wild for this game no matter what, but with GameDay coming to town for the first time, they'll never stop shouting. We've already had communication trouble at home. I'm worried we may have even more of a problem in Sims' first road game. Hopefully during the bye week the offense spent a LOT of time on this.
- Their secondary is legit. I know, Cooper put up 200 on Florida of all defenses. But these guys are good too, and they probably have better Safeties to take away those deep balls AND maybe the middle of the field. If they press and stop our screens, they MIGHT be able to limit Coop. Can White, Howard, and Drake pick up the load in the passing game?
- Can Yeldon get going? We've had trouble running between the tackles, and Yeldon is under 5 YPC on the season after an abysmal rushing performance vs Florida. Ole Miss has a good front, can Yeldon get back to form? If not, and Henry/Drake are running well, will we feed the hot hands?
- And finally, who will be our corners? Is Jackson healthy? Does Saban think Tony is ready? Ole Miss has big receivers and I think we need both Tony and Eddie on the field against that size.

I agree with everything you said. I don't understand how so many of the Bama fans can suddenly see this game as an automatic W. Sims will get pressured and have to make good decisions, I look for that to continue the rest of the season. If you can not cover the receivers the next thing you do is effect the qb, Can we get consistent pressure on Wallace or will his receivers run free. I don't know that we can cover them as effectively as last year. We have not proven we can take a game over with our OL and run the ball and the clock to keep them off the field.

I think that the better question is will the Oline be able to block for Yeldon. Yeldon had nowhere to run against UF. He was constantly having to side step people in the back field.

I predicted Cooper to have another good game in the prediction thread, but if I were to be completely honest, I would say that our other WRs will have to carry the load this weekend. I think they are going to do everything they can to stop/limit Coop. I do think that the other guys are highly capable, and I think they will put up good numbers if Cooper cant.

This will be interesting, but the good thing is, Sims seems to handle pressure/mistakes very well. He hasnt cracked yet when he could have easily. I have faith in him because of this.

I think that even if Brown starts, he will have a short leash.

I really hope Jackson is healthy. I have faith in Jones too, but I would like to think that Brown will be ready when called upon, if he isnt going to be starting.

I keep reading where Bo Wallace is much improved. My question is this: what is Bo Wallaces' signature win as a starting QB?

The only reason I'm optimistic is because Ole Miss really doesnt have a run game. You have to be Balanced. Just depends which Bo shows up. If he goes Stephen Garcia on us, it could be a long day.

The Bo Wallace I saw on Saturday night didn't look improved. He looked horrible. If we lose to Bo Wallace, then we need to shut the program down.

Blake did not throw today during the media viewing period.

Honestly haven't watched Bo play unless he was playing against Bama. So I really don't know what his strengths/weaknesses are...only info I read is what others in the rant have to say. (Thus my question about signature win).

This is a game I had penciled in as a potential loss for this year's Bama team... But that was before seeing how well Blake Sims has played so far. OM defense is nasty and Yeldon will have to work for his yards unless he goes back to running North/South. The key to the Bama ground attack will be Henry.
The passing attack is not that much of a concern only because Sims will tuck it and run if the receivers are covered.

I'm just saying, he is 2-10 as a starter against ranked teams.
ETA: 1-9 against teams that finished the season ranked. The lone win being LSU last year.

Because Ole Miss has always been a win, even during the Shula days. Heck it took a 2-time Super Bowl Champion QB to actually beat us the last time. I DO think this current Rebel squad is dangerous and will NOT talk smack... but I absolutely understand those who will.

I'm watching the OM/Memphis game right now, and I wouldnt be surprised if we shut them out again. Most of their big run plays would have undoubtedly been tackle for losses against us. And their Oline is borderline atrocious. I wouldnt be surprised if Bo Wallace didn't make it through the game.
I am growing less and less worried.

Bo makes a ton of bad throws. Tons. A lot of them don't get intercepted. I've seen him throw into double or even triple coverage before. There are times he turns it on like his game against LSU last year. Overall I'm not that worried about the OM offense.
Its the OM defense that is constantly trying to hit hard that worries me, especially before we play another physical team the week after.

That was my takeaway after watching their games against Boise St and Memphis. They have no legitimate threat at RB, and Bo is barely an average running QB threat. We'll make their offense one dimensional and hopefully our D-line can get some pressure on Bo and force him into mistakes.
That said, their defense is legit and if we're as sloppy with the ball as we were against Florida, it'll be a tight game.

Their defense is good, but they havent seen an offense near as dynamic as ours. I think we will shell shock them with playmakers. Even if we start off slow, we will eventually wear them down IMO.

I watched that whole game live. There are times where Ole Miss looks absolutely horrible on offense. Memphis got constant pressure on Wallace. I know OM was probably looking ahead but there were quite a few moments where the Rebel OL was getting whipped up front and Wallace threw a few INTs that a senior QB should never throw. I suspect Ole Miss will do what others teams do against us: get the ball out on the edges and in space quickly. They don't want Bo to have to drop back and go through progressions.
Also note the lack of composure/discipline. A lot of that exhibited by the players and coaches when calls don't go their way.

It was the same story for much of the Boise St game, particularly the 1st half. If Boise St had a competent offense, that game would have gotten ugly for Ole Miss fast.
They looked better in the 2nd half, but not much better. I think their lack of a legitimate SEC RB is going to hurt them all season. Their defense is good enough to keep them within striking distance, but until they develop a RB, their offense will struggle.

i think their OL and their RBs are their biggest weaknesses. That's not a good formula for beating Alabama.

Even OM fans will say that their interior OL are not that good.
If we see anything up the middle, it will be Bo on QB draws.
