Regarding the Oline:

Someone posted on AUfamily some of the differences he's seen from the Oline this year compared to last year. This guy claimed to be a coach and had screenshots of what he was claiming.
Basically the said we've tightened the splits between the guards and tackles causing huge cluster fricks when the ball is snapped. Instead of having a foot or two between the linemen like last year they're basically foot to foot which is causing jam ups and no running lanes.
He also pointed out the high number of "timing" runs we're using as opposed to "downhill" runs. On the timing runs we often fake a sweep and wait for guards to pull as opposed to last year using a more "downhill" approach snapping the ball and firing off the line.
Like I said the guy claimed to know what he was talking about, but the thread got whacked.
Thoughts?

Why would they whack that thread? That sounds like the best discussion thread you could have on a message board.
I'd like to see the screenshots of what he's talking about

No idea. I'm not an Oline expert and don't have a clue about nuances of an Oline.

There seem to be fewer quick hitting "downhill" runs as last year, but that could just be bc we aren't blocking worth a shite.
I think we need to let Marshall run more and that could open things up more... it worked last year, and LSU is susceptible to QB runs.

Because it's AUF. No non-sunshine pumping threads allowed.

We truly need a separate Auburn Sub-forum just for bitching and whining about AUFamily.

General Barner Complaint thread - That way JJacobs discussions would have a place to live

Same reason anything super negative/blasphemous about LSU seems to get whacked with the quickness on this site even if it has some legit arguments

I don't know anything about the nuances of o-line play, but I can sure tell that the holes just aren't there like they were last year.

Jay Tate has written (with help) a few good Chalk Talks which go over some of this. Looks a lot like our OL is just missing assignments, especially Brandon Fulse.

Splits are kind of important for getting leverage on blocks. I could see what he's saying if I had those screenshots. Again if the Oline are too tight then holes get too log jammed.

The offense was running well yesterday when NM got the change to run.

Hopefully the coaches are on top of this.

I would have really liked to see us move Pettway to hback at his size and let him learn the spot in some of these early games. If he doesn't get it or doesn't want to stay, move him back to tback when Cox shows up to take the spot. We are really missing Prosch to keep this offense rolling.

I was curious how Fulse would work at Hback when I seen him listed at 273 over the summer

Feels like Lashlee is just got damn determined to get the read option working like last year above all else. I dont think he gets the Gus idea of adjusting to your talent.

1. Not sure why our coaches would change our blocking schemes after the way they worked last year.
2. If they did change them not sure why they wouldn't have already changed them back when they clearly aren't working as well.

I didn't have a chance to watch the game Sat, but watched it last night and the OL didn't look that bad. Yeah, they had some moments where they missed some blocks, but Fulse looked bad. He's not getting to the LB's on inside or outside runs. There was one play in the second half where Grant was dropped for a loss that CAP missed a block and Fulse missed the same guy, and he tripped Grant up in the backfield on sweep.
The OL is doing their job for the most part, but we're missing those 1 or 2 guys that we were blocking last year to spring big plays.

Cam Toney has been practicing at Hback and may get a shot this weekend.

Had Braden Smith gotten a look there? Seems like he would be a good fit if he practiced there at all.
