The defense Saturday was average at best. But on both the inerceptions, the Georgia defense stepped up and shut down the Voles. 3 and out, and 4 and out. Over the last few years those TOs would have likely led to TDs and opened the floodgates for a loss. Still a work in progress, but moving in the right direction.
Only gave up 117 rushing yards, and under 300 yards to a good passing team.

We have been doing a lot better at forcing TOs so far this year. A lot better than last year.

Our D is getting better every game. The first couple possessions sucked bad, as did the last one before halftime. But overall they played pretty well, and there were a few plays that were just a few inches from being interceptions or sacks. We should cruise Saturday before a biggie against missouri.

Maty Mauk scares me as a dual threat QB. If we can contain him and make him throw the ball we stand a good chance. But if he makes plays with his feet our defense will be in big trouble.

It's weird because the defense still makes me feel hollow inside but unlike last year you can see the team getting better and it just feels like it'll eventually be fixed.

Mizzou and Ark both scare the hell out of me....especially after yesterday.

Ark with that line could be USCe 2.0....except with more yards rushing....

Georgia is 3rd nationally on rushing offense with 1201 yads. 7.02 ypc and 300 ypg.
The run defense is 25th - giving up 428 yards. 2.91 ypc and 107 ypg.

I'll accept that all year.

Mizzou, Arkansas, Kentucky, Florida, Georgia Tech and Auburn. All games Georgia could lose.

Ya I agree...none of those are automatic Wins...in fact, I couldn't even see us being the favorite in 2 of them...AU and Mizz. That game in Arkansas is def going to be a lot tougher than it looked at the beginning of the season. I will give the D some credit, but, and I am just being honest...had Worley not gone out for a qrt and a half...we prob would have lost.

I would put us as an underdog for AU, Mizz and Arky based on the body of work thus far....in fact I like our chances against AU at home better than those other teams.

Maybe, but the defensive stands after the two INTs were with Worley at QB.

This is the dumbest thing ive seen on this board today I think, and that is pretty impressive. What in Arkansas body of work would make us the underdog to them lol?

Uhhh....the fact that they have a massive and effective O Line and run the ball all over everyone they play?

And their QB has been effective on the PA pass....something our LB's bite on religiously.

Have you watched our defense this year against a good running game? Did you watch the Arky A&M game?

Do you even know what the frick you're talking about?

Yes they also cant stop a cold. No shite Arkansas is going to score on UGA just like every other team we play, hell Vandy will score 14 on us. With that said UGA will have no problem out scoring Arkansas their defenders fell down on two consecutive drives to allow A&M to take that game to overtime. There is no way Arkansas does anything worse to our defense that USC did and we will have more offense against their defense that can barely stay on its own two feet.

Agree with this. I see improvement; tighter coverage, contending for the ball when it arrives at the receiver, better tackling after the catch and more intent toward creating TO's. Where I still see need for improvement is anticipation of the quick outlet passes, defeating blocks and quickly making those tackles on the outside. I'm still not convinced Pruitt has all the pieces needed to create a championship defense but I do think the young guys in the Secondary are playing better as a result of his coaching.

Look...I don't GAS if you see this the same way that I do or not. But with their line and our defense I have no reason to believe at this time that they won't be able to move the ball on us at will...especially if they hold us out of the pass rush.

Also..we do not have the passing game that A&M has....so we can't wing it all over the field. Maybe Arky just got up for the game...but do you think we could hold A&M to 35? Do you think we should feel super awesome about our body of work against Troy and a crappy UT team that hasn't won an SEC game in what....2 years....similar to AR?

Will Vegas have us as a favorite? Probably...but I think they could be a team that mans up and pounds us ala AL's 30 hand off's in a row in the 2012 SECCG. We'll know more after next week when they play Bama...but that's going to be a tough one.

Georgia has not played a primarily rushing team with a strong running attach yet.

That makes the Georgia-Arkansas game hard to predict.

Arkansas is even more one-dimensional on offense than Georgia is. That may make it easier for Georgia's defense to stop because the dawg's biggest defensive weakness is against the pass.

Arkansas also has yet to learn how to win a big close game.

Don't count Georgia out in that one.

And all games are winnable as well.

None of those teams are elite , and all have glaring weaknesses as well.

no...they consistently give up the intermediate and short passing game stuff...i like Pruitt's attitude...but i am tired of seeing Herrera covering receivers all the time and getting burnt...that is not what he does best...and the db's still don't know where to line up...i know it is a work in progress....but it needs to get fixed quick...without AM we cannot get into shoot out games...
