ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia junior tailback Todd Gurley has been named the Athlon Sports National Player of the Week for the second time this season after his performance versus Tennessee, according to an announcement on Sunday. Gurley, a Tarboro, N.C., posted a career-high 208 rushing yards on 28 carries (7.4 avg.) and two touchdowns. His rushing total today was the most by a Bulldog since 1992 when Garrison Hearst tallied 246 versus Vanderbilt, and the first to go over 200 since Verron Haynes went for 207 versus Ga. Tech in 2001.

Might be time to start calling our team the Todd Gurley's instead of the Bulldogs.

I mean it'd be the most accurate thing we could do

In the SECRant scoreboard gamethread yesterday, some UT fan took exception to the praise being heaped on Todd Gurley instead of Jalen Hurd...folks were also complimenting him (and he IS an impressive back). At one point, the UT guy even posted the comparative in-game stats for the two:
Hurd 11 carries, 70 yards, 1 td
Gurley 12 carries, 70 yards, 1 td
Now, we know how things ended up, Hurd had a fine game, Gurley was a beast.
Here is where I say that every team we play that has a good/great back needs to cool their jets on saying "our guy is just as good as Gurley".
We don't go into ANY game saying...we HAVE to stop {insert RB name here} if we have ANY chance of stopping {insert team name here}.
EVERY team we play says...we HAVE to stop Todd Gurley if we have ANY chance of stopping UGA.
I promise, we didn't go into yesterday scared that Hurd was going to take UT on his back and beat us...we went in scared that our DB's couldn't cover a piece of toast with a 55 gallon drum of grape jelly.
