A work in progress to be sure.

But, he's got "it". You can't teach "it".

Just think he needs to calm the frick down. He was extremely lucky chucking the ball all around the field without regard last night didn't net a pick 6. Hansbrough on the other hand, was the balls. We need to work in more jet sweeps/reverses to this guy while Mauk gets his head on straight.

Has anyone heard the story about JF, and the UF game in 2012?

The game we should have won, but for his 5 picks?

The fact of the matter is, he was distraught because he and his GF had just broken up. The team knew they didn't have a chance that day.

He was that much of a pussy.

I'll take a riverboat gambler with crazy moxie every Saturday over a pussy who can't focus because some girl, whom he probably never even banged, just broke up with him.

Mauk is a leader and a winner, He'll learn the hard way a few times this year, but I'm willing to put up with it.

yea TJ Moe let the cat outa the bag on that one.

I agree on Maty, his "gambler" attitude is what gives him "it" to a large degree. Otoh taking risks is not something Pinkel likes to do, it isn't in his gameplan, so his style doesn't really jive with that of the staff.

I hope he stays with it though, wither Pinkel likes it or not, it makes his game work.

He looked just awful yesterday.

Like Berkstresser 2012 bad. Maybe worse than Berk 2012.

He really did, except when it counted.

Like I said, he's a work in progress.

I'm all in.

If Mauk flees at the first sign of incoming interior color (not necessarily pressure), that's a bit disconcerting. But considering he was down to waterboys for a receiving crew, he has to get a mulligan.

The coaches have their work cut out trying to cobble something together for Georgia.

I'd love to get Steward back so Murphy can finally become our movable chess piece.

With the exception of the last two drives most of the time yesterday the SC guys got to Mauk about the same time as the ball.

With Oline play this bad it's difficult to tell how good or bad Mauk is.

Up until going to bed last night I thought the "Mauk sucked" but after further analysis:

1. The receivers never got much separation, and really haven't all year.

2. He's been conditioned to give himself about 2 seconds in the pocket, because of poor OL play.

3. The receivers, Culkin included don't seem to have much game personalities. No killer instinct, or next level.

4. Lawrence Lee needs to play.

When you look at Manziel's progress the 2nd year, you can't ignore the progress his receivers and OL also made. Mauk has neither going right now. It's damn hard to grow your own game while waiting for others to just learn how to play their game.

Just my humble opinion.

He still needs to improve in his read progressions and pocket presence. Often it is one read and then bail. When he bails, it is 50/50 on whether he improves the situation. His timing was off yesterday. Same as the first 4 weeks though, entire offense needs to play better. O line played their best game yet so that is a promising trend. Need RBs to get healthy and WRs to run better routes and get separation. This bye week is good timing.

Bump.

Should have been bumped last week.

Plenty of room in the Mauk Sucks Club, jump on anytime.

Guy is an idiot. I can tell by the way he talks. Complete moron.

He should be a gunslinger at a place like Cincinnati, like his brother.

He's not a big time D1 qb. Just isn't.

Like I've said, he won't be the starter much longer.

"It" is exactly what he doesn't have.

"It" is not a cannon arm, "it" is all the things that bring that together, which he doesn't have.

Agreed, "it" would be pocket presence and a feel for the position. Two things he definitely does not have. He's not even a "gambler", he just makes stupid plays and he's terribly inaccurate. One bad game? Ok, but two in a row and you suck. He sucks.

He can improve or whatever, I guess, but right now he's the worst QB Pinkel has had here and it's not particularly close.

He hasn't had a good game yet this year. The 4 OOC games were games he should have been putting up xbox numbers in. He didn't. Maybe he had 1 decent game. Can't remember.

Toledo wasn't aweful but it was by no means great.

To be fair, he's working with a back-up set of receivers and an overmatched offensive line.

But his short to medium range inaccuracy is chronic and seemingly unfixable.

The continuous loop of 2nd and 3rd-and-longs has finally come home to roost.

Mauk doesn't "suck". The kid has tons of potential.

Mauk plays scared. He is scared to death of that pocket. He will not stand in the pocket and take the hit to deliver the ball. I hope it is concern for ball control and not cowardice. But, as we see more of him running 30 yards in the wrong direction before throwing it away, I'm starting to think he just doesn't have the stones to be a QB at this level.
