I'm friends with someone (I'm sure I will be called full of shite on this very board) who was a close family friend to David. He's doing anything and everything he can to draw attention to this case. I hope he is wildly successful.

The story is certainly gaining traction outside of Middle Georgia. Mitch Shook has done a wonderful job of bringing outside media into the fold.

Saw this the other day. fricking shame. Yea, let's take the word of a meth head, do no investigative work, and go in at night knowing he has guns instead of arresting him at his office. shite is unreal.

We live in a police state now, might as well get used to it.
The sad thing is that I'd be willing to wager that 9 out of every 10 police officer is a good person making a living, but they're being given a bad name by a small percentage of tiny dicked assholes who think they're Wyatt Earp and seemingly want to shoot anyone or anything that doesn't to comply to their every whim.

This is a common sentiment and one that is, unfortunately, probably false. While I doubt that a majority of cops will shoot anything that moves the vast majority of them will keep quiet and cover up for their brothers in blue when there is an incident...and that is every bit as bad as actually doing something wrong. If just a few of the supposedly large number of "good cops" out there would refuse to cover up their brothers crimes the number of those crimes would plummet....

Yeah it's not like this is the first time the cops have listened to a degenerate informer........

It is amazing how fast the police lies are mounting on this murder case. It is laughable that the cops say that the meth addicted car thief voluntarily turned himself in to police because he got scared when he opened a bag he had stolen and found that it contained meth.
By all appearances the cops slaughtered a completely innocent man in an attempt to seize very valuable assets. Mr Hooks lived on a 200 acre tract which included his own two story home as well as homes he built for his son and daughter.
The militarization of police and the so called "drug war" are out of control. Every week we see cops murdering innocent people. Most of the victims are minorities but really all of society is victimized.
Check out the anti-prohibition movie "How to Make Money Selling Drugs" which includes segments with reformed Texas narc Barry Cooper. Cooper describes the common police practice of planting drugs and setting people up. Cooper finally quit in disgust and started filming sting operations against the crooked cops that he formerly worked with.

A no-knock search warrant is a recipe for disaster.
We've got a public that can be legally-armed, many states allowing "castle" laws/stand your ground (or whatever, I'm no lawyer) and police that try and sneak up on/ambush people at home. The odds will not be in favor of a peaceful outcome.
If one traces the responsibility upward, I assume a judge is to blame. But I haven't heard of too many judges going to jail or being disbarred over botched servicing of warrants (assuming a judge hears evidence why a warrant should be given, the judge is the "decider").
The Fear is strong in this country. Who are the winners? Follow the money....

Yeah, but this time we didn't blow up any kids, so we're gonna go ahead and put this one down as a W.

Agreed. However, in the case of David Hooks there was reportedly a simple search warrant rather than a no knock warrant. In spite of that fact, the swat team was said to have broken through the back door unannounced.
Swat raids for drug warrants are insane.

This is an issue that crosses all known lines....race, income....it makes no difference. Between this and civil seizure laws we don't stand a chance....the so called war on drugs has morphed into a war on the citizens of this country and there is no way to justify the abuses that are becoming all too common.....
